FEED STATION ETIQUETTE With hundreds of riders making a pit stop in close proximity, it’s vital you don’t block the road by pulling up directly to the feed station with your bike. Instead use the bike racks provided. To ensure all participants get access to adequate sports nutrition products, we kindly ask riders not to take more than 1 bar per feed station. There are plenty of other options also available: oranges, bananas, dry fruits, crackers, cakes, cheese, ham, and water. Please note that each 130ml EFS Liquid Shot bottle contains 3 to 4 servings to be spread over more than three hours of riding. You will receive 6 EFS Liquid Shot bottles at Registration. For optimal performance, we advise you to start taking EFS Liquid Shot in the morning and throughout each stage. EFS Liquid Shot will also be available at the first feed station every day (expect on Time Trial Day).
For riders receiving external support from family, coaches, or tour operators, note that the feed station zones are the only points on the course where assistance is permitted. The West Avon Preserve offers 13 miles of single track multi-use trails, rounding out the rider activity offerings in Avon. Harry A. Nottingham Park and the Avon Pavilion are home to Avon’s lakeside beach and nearby disc golf course. Rent a SUP or paddle boat to float on Nottingham Lake, or take advantage of picnic tables and barbecue grills throughout the park. Tennis, basketball, volleyball, and pickle-ball courts are also available. ABOUT
Breckenridge
Surrounding the historic town of Breckenridge, you can see evidence of its gold-mining history in the form of talus piles dotting the mountains. From the 1860s into the early 1900s, Breckenridge’s rivers and mountains were mined. Its transformation into a ski town started in 1961 with the first run cut into Peak 8, west of the village. Today, the ski area lays claim to the highest chairlift in the world, topping out at 12,840 feet (3,914M+). The historic Victorian Main Street, a registered National Historic District, has attracted shops and restaurants. More than 10 museums around town cover Breckenridge’s mining roots. You’ll have two nights here, plenty of time to explore Main Street or just hang out on the patio at one of the restaurants. But what makes Breckenridge stand out is that those 100-plus miles of original access roads to the mines throughout the valley and the surrounding mountains created a bonanza of more than 100 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and off-roading trails to explore. These include the steep neighborhood roads climbing up the hills east of town that have hosted pivotal stages of the recent ProTour bike race held each August. Take advantage of your two nights in Breckenridge to discover its dining and cultural gems.
