What is your property’s current biggest challenge & how do you manage this challenge in a highly competitive industry?

De L’Europe Amsterdam has recently been renovated: most of the rooms, suites, restaurants, and public areas are completely finished. We are still working on the suites in ‘t Huys. Because we partnered up with some of Amsterdam’s most creative minds e.g. Bibi van der Velden, Danie Bles, Salle Privée, Ronald van der Kemp, Mendo, and many more. Staying in one of these suites means guests will have an experience inside and outside of De L’Europe Amsterdam, which will take them into the world of the local partners. This approach is part of the repositioning of De L’Europe Amsterdam: the lifestyle destination where guests and locals can experience Original Amsterdam Luxury.

What makes the hotel really special?

Our teams, all my 200 colleagues that every day are here and passionately take care of you, anticipating your needs. And, of course the over 125 years of rich history and prime location. De L’Europe Amsterdam lies on the banks of the Amstel river in the heart of the city centre. The atmosphere the hotel exudes, especially now, after the refurbishment, greatly adds to its uniqueness. When you walk in, there is a certain serenity that feels a bit residential, like coming into someone’s home. The intimacy, and the genuine hospitality of our team also make a difference. Their enthusiasm, care, and dedication to our guests and the business is second to none. Everyone, myself included, is proud to work at the hotel.

How do you prepare now to remain relevant and in-demand in the future?

As people start to indulge in more leisure time, they look for more and more unique experiences. A stay at a hotel has become much more about the experience, rather than just a comfortable room. That’s where our incredible wide range of restaurants and bars as well as know-how within the team of De L’Europe Amsterdam makes a difference. They are all perfect for creating unique moments and experiences for our guests and locals.

Next to the luxurious oasis of comfort, we are also home to an extensive range of culinary experiences. The two MICHELIN-star conscious fine-dining restaurant Flore, the classic French Brasserie Marie, the authentic Italian Trattoria Graziella, and the iconic Freddy’s Bar can all be found under one roof here. De L’Europe Amsterdam also invites guests and locals to discover its newest addition: ‘t Huys. A place where Amsterdam icons of art, style, and luxury come together, and the essence of the city abounds. Explore culture and couture in one of our seven ultra luxurious brand suites and discover Original Amsterdam Luxury at its finest.

How do you expect the association with Haute Grandeur will benefit your brand in the medium/long run?

The Haute Grandeur Global Awards is of course a prestigious and globally trusted award. Being nominated and awarded confirms our brand position on a global level and gives us the right recognition. As a 5-star ultra-luxurious destination, we are always looking for partners that offer the same quality and service.
