Our offer is unique, and you can’t find anything like Malangen Resort,
What is your property’s current biggest challenge & how do you manage this challenge in a highly competitive industry?
The biggest challenge for us has definitely been expanding our operations from being a pure winter destination to an all-year destination. Located in a rural part of Northern Norway, managing the organization of staff both in acquisition and maintenance has been difficult. Throwing COVID-19 into the mix as well, was anything but helpful.
As the North Norwegian youth gets drawn to the cities and away from the districts, local workers are hard to come by and foreign workers are our only solution. Work environment has been the main focus and the results of that - splendid. A great workplace is a place people want to return to. This helps us maintain the necessary competence and ability to deliver our authentic and hard to come by services.
What makes the hotel really special?
Our location combined with the concept of being an activity and relaxation resort. We are a one-stop-shop surrounded by the gorgeous nature Northern Norway has to offer. Being above the Polar Circle both the Aurora Borealis in the winter and the Midnight Sun in the summer provides us and our guests with fundamentally unique experiences, while at the same time enjoying our services such as our Arctic Ocean SPA, tasting, dogsledding in the winter and jet ski in the summer. All basked in spectacular views.
How do you prepare now to remain relevant and in-demand in future?
Our offer is unique, and you can’t find anything like Malangen Resort, neither in the rest of Norway, nor the rest of the world. We strive to provide excellence and we constantly evaluate what we can do to either perfect what we have or increase our repertoire. Our theme is the authentic experiences while combining attractions people know and can relate to.
Take our SPA as an example, most people know it as something of great comfort. It is definitely the same with us as well, but right next to it is a staircase going directly into the Arctic Ocean. This provides a refreshing piece of what nature can offer, along with great pleasure while at the same time being safe.
This is what we seek to provide our guests, authentic experiences that will last in memory forever.
How do you expect the association with Haute Grandeur will benefit your brand in the medium/long run?
Hopefully, more people will know about our wonderful resort. Giving them the opportunity to see this completely different part of the world and us the opportunity to present it to them in the best way possible.
