Welcome to Your 2024/25 Pandora Books Catalogue
When the new children’s laureate, Frank CottrellBoyce, said, “I write children’s books because I think they help build the apparatus of happiness inside us” we could not agree more, and we hope our cover story conveys our passion for sharing the joys and benefits of reading. Supplying schools with high-quality books so children can learn to read, read for pleasure, and read for information is our mission. Uniquely in the educational book world, our expert team carefully reads every book we stock, allowing us to place it in the right collection, or reject it altogether should it not meet our demanding requirements. This year, we have also collaborated with teacher and reading for pleasure advocate, Jon Biddle, who has created four collections of new and proven books for primary schools (see pages 42 & 43). We also stock a wide range of books to support SSP programmes; fluency beyond phonics; short reads to boost reading; longer reads for confident readers; irresistible reads (graphic novels and more) and topic collections to support curriculum learning. All our books arrive fitted with free protective jackets and are discounted so your budgets go further.

They all include fiction, non-fiction, poetry and picture books. There is also a selection of graphic novels for the KS1 and KS2 packs, as they have exploded in popularity over the past few years. I hope your pupils enjoy exploring these books as much as mine have!”

KEEP BOYS READING IN LKS2

There can be benefits of this repetition but gently drawing them away from the familiar can promote progression and broaden their reading. These collections have been designed to be deliciously tempting and provide reading progression in each year group.

Reading Across the Curriculum
TOPIC
“Reading across the curriculum supports the knowledge and vocabulary to be learnt in each subject…Carefully selecting texts for each year group is therefore important to support curriculum planning. Without such texts, pupils must rely on remembering what the teacher has said. When pupils read, they can control the pace at which they learn.” The Reading Framework (DfE July 2023). We offer collections of the best children’s books available to support curriculum-based learning in KS1 and KS2. These collections have been designed by a team with extensive knowledge of the primary school curriculum, a passion for non-fiction and the full range of subject areas. We offer larger collections that will invigorate your library for a whole key stage and smaller, targeted collections that are ideal for focused study on a topic or for selecting the best children’s books for non-fiction reading. We can help you provide a library where children extend and reinforce their topic knowledge; where teachers find great books for their current topic; and classes choose from a variety of text styles, explore a topic independently, and then come together to share what they have discovered.
