We live here. We sell here. We support here.
Helping clients buy and sell homes in the Indianapolis area for more than 70 years combined, the Somerville Team—Libby Somerville, Kim Baxter, and Stevee Clifton—work together to showcase properties in creative and innovative ways incorporating trust, passion, and results with every client they represent.
We are proud to support St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild as they restore and modernize a historic home in benefit of Eskenazi Health. Their initiative inspires collaboration amongst the Indianapolis community.
It is our distinct pleasure to welcome you to this magnificent Tudor home, tucked into a quiet neighborhood on the northwest side of Indianapolis. We hope you will enjoy your time with us as you experience the “Country’s Longest Running Show House!”
The St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild (SMHG) members, designers, and landscapers spend months selecting the perfect home in the Indianapolis area: one that has significant historical value, several spaces for designers to add their creative touches, and beautiful grounds that bloom in Spring. This year, we have found all of these qualities and more in 4521 Sylvan Road!
As you tour the home and grounds, please use this program as your guide. The areas are listed, numbered, and described in the order in which you will view them. You will also have access to paint colors, artists, and designer information, as well as a virtual tour on our website, www.showhouseindy.org.
The mission of the SMHG is to raise funds for the programs and services of Eskenazi Health. The dedicated volunteers of the SMHG are in the 3rd year of a 4-year, $1 million dollar donation to the John and Kathy Ackerman Professional Development Center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center.
Thank you so much for supporting the SMHG, Eskenazi Health, and the donors, sponsors, and businesses that partner with us. We truly see the Show House and Gardens as our gift to the city of Indianapolis and we are delighted to welcome you into our home.
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild is a volunteer organization committed to raising funds for the services and programs of Eskenazi Health.

Barriers to health care aren’t always apparent. Depression and other mental illnesses can impact every aspect of an individual’s life and the lives of those around them. Fortunately, this young woman found the courage to challenge the stigma around mental health that many face, and her journey is now inspiring others.

To the Women of St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild,
On behalf of Eskenazi Health and Eskenazi Health Foundation, congratulations on the 63rd annual St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Decorators’ Show House and Gardens. This long-running event is yet another shining example of the Guild’s dedication and support of Eskenazi Health. Since 1907, the Guild has raised more than $14 million in contribution to our mission of advancing health equity and providing the highest quality care to all residents of Marion County and Central Indiana.
Proceeds from this year’s Decorators’ Show House and Gardens will support the John & Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center (Ackerman Center). The Ackerman Center aims to build a comprehensive workforce development plan. The center encompasses all disciplines of mental health care, offering professional experience and support in order to create a talent pipeline of mental health providers.
The Guild has been a steadfast supporter of Eskenazi Health, and its impact can be seen throughout Eskenazi Health, including St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Diagnostic Breast Center, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Limestone Falls, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Center for Nursing Excellence and St. Margaret’s Pharmacy. Your generosity has made an extraordinary impact across our organization that has been felt by many.
Congratulations on the remarkable transformation of this year’s Decorators’ Show House and Gardens. Eskenazi Health and Eskenazi Health Foundation are thankful for your continued support and commitment.
Gratefully,
Lisa Harris, M.D.

“I am just so grateful for the help I have received …”
After being diagnosed with stress-related diabetes, Nancy Bills was connected to LaTanya Jefferson, a certified community health worker with Eskenazi Health, through the Diabetes Impact Project (DIP-IN). DIP-IN helps connect individuals with a community health worker who provides in-home visits and helps individuals work towards healthier lifestyles. Those living within certain ZIP codes are eligible for free services.
Together, Bills and Jefferson created small goals and worked towards overall sustainable health and wellness. Together, they broke down the importance of nutrition and exercise and how they work in tandem to naturally combat Bills’ diabetes through healthy living.
Bills has been a patient of Eskenazi Health for as long as she can remember and said she would recommend the health system to everyone. She offers nothing but praise for the providers who have cared for her over the years and have helped her work towards a healthier lifestyle, as the skills she learned have been invaluable.
“I am just so grateful for the help I have received from Eskenazi and continue to receive,” Bills said. “I just can’t even put into words right now. I owe them my life.”

“…we’re very happy and will remain forever grateful to Eskenazi Health.”
When Ileana Medina de la Rocha, her husband Eddie, and sons Victor, 5, and Eddie Jr., 12, believed their situation in Nicaragua had become intolerable, they made the decision to leave their home for good.
After settling in Indiana, they were connected to Eskenazi Health through their children’s school when trying to schedule their vaccines. The experience, they said, was one of the best they had since arriving in the United States.
“Anytime we’ve had health issues and we’ve come in for doctor appointments, the staff has been very kind and attentive,” Ileana said.
“The Eskenazi Health professionals have treated us very well and we always follow the doctor’s instructions. They’ve put us in contact with social workers, community health workers and they’ve all helped us in various ways, so we’re very happy and will remain forever grateful to Eskenazi Health.”

The Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award, given annually by St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and sponsored by Versiti Blood Center of Indiana, honors management-level members of the Eskenazi Health team who uphold the tradition of excellence in health care. This innovative, creative, and dedicated recipient was selected among many exceptional nominees from Eskenazi Health.
Generously sponsored by Versiti Blood Center of Indiana since 2006
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and Versiti Blood Center of Indiana announced Deanna Reinoso, M.D., as the recipient of the 2023 Achievement in Medicine (AIM) Award. The AIM Award honors management-level members of the Eskenazi Health team who uphold the tradition of excellence in health care.
“Dr. Reinoso is beloved by patients because she possesses a rare combination of knowledge, skill and empathy,” said Dawn Haut, M.D., CEO of Eskenazi Health Center. “Where she really goes above and beyond is in addressing her patients’ difficult social issues as well as their medical concerns.” Dr. Reinoso is a board-certified pediatrician and lifestyle medicine physician. She completed medical school and pediatric residency at Indiana University School of Medicine. She has been with Eskenazi Health since 2002.
Dr. Reinoso was nominated for her extensive work in integrating the medical and social care of her patients as medical director of Eskenazi Health Social Determinants of Health. Under her direction, Eskenazi Health has worked to improve community health and reduce disparities in health outcomes by addressing social factors such as food insecurity, housing insecurity, safety, financial security, unmet diaper needs, education, and access to health care. Dr. Reinoso was instrumental in establishing the Crooked Creek Food Pantry at Eskenazi Health Center. She is a strong advocate for social determinants of health efforts including Wellness Walks, the Fresh for You Market, and the Indiana Diaper Bank.
AIM Award recipients are selected by a team of leaders coordinated by St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild. The guild is a volunteer organization committed to raising funds for the services and programs at Eskenazi Health. Founded in 1097, the Guild has raised more than $14 million for Eskenazi Health throughout the years. This is the 25th year for the AIM Awards.
Eskenazi Health and the Indiana Diaper Bank have partnered together to create the Eskenazi Health Diaper Program, which helps Marion County families provide diapers to their children. According to the Indiana Diaper Bank, one in three Indiana families struggle to afford diapers for their children, and nearly 57% of parents who have unmet diaper needs have had to miss work due to their child not having enough diapers to attend daycare.
Eskenazi Health patients are screened for social factors such as food, housing and transportation insecurities. Through the Eskenazi Health Diaper Program, families with children up to three years of age are also screened for diaper needs. Qualifying patients receive diapers for their children in hopes of relieving financial stressors they may face.
After hearing Deanna Reinoso, M.D., speak at the 2023 St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild Founder’s Day lunch, the Guild was moved to raise funds for the program. In less than a year, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild has donated 3,000 diapers and nearly $5,000 to help this worthy cause.
Random Acts of Flowers (RAF) focuses on its mission to improve the emotional health and well-being of individuals in health care and assisted living facilities across the country by delivering recycled flowers, encouragement, and personal moments of kindness. In October 2016, the RAF Indianapolis branch made its first delivery of 75 bouquets given to patients at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital. The group returned in 2018 to celebrate the milestone of completing 50,000 deliveries across the city.
The ladies of St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild have gathered at RAF over the past five years to make bouquets for patients at Eskenazi Health. They have collected hundreds of vases for use by other RAF volunteers and even held events during the run of the Show House to make floral arrangements.
Reach Out and Read is a program that prepares America’s youngest children to succeed in school by encouraging doctors and nurses to teach parents the importance of reading aloud to their children. Through this program, donated books are given to children at check-ups from six months through five years. Through Reach Out and Read, children are provided carefully chosen books, available in multiple languages, that contribute to healthy child development.
In 2022, St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild began collecting books for Eskenazi Health primary care locations and have delivered more than 500 books in various languages to Eskenazi Health Center Grassy Creek, Eskenazi Health Center North Arlington, Eskenazi Health Center Pecar and Eskenazi Health Center West 38th Street.
Home & Willow Design jumped at the opportunity to be a part of the Decorators’ Show House & Gardens, St. Margaret’s Guild’s biggest fundraiser for Eskenazi.
“What better way for a designer to get behind a cause as worthy as Mental Health than giving resources and time to decorate a home,” says Julie Curry.
Decorators’ Show House & Gardens is a highly organized, creative collaboration among the best Interior Designers in the city, and we love seeing it come together in a beautiful event for the community. It’s a formula that really shouldn’t work when you first think about it.... designers with different tastes and creative influences each designing separate spaces in a home....without talking to the homeowner! But, in a true testament to a designer’s end goal, we each solve spatial and aesthetic problems, keeping in mind the style and integrity of the home. The end result, as always, is nothing short of spectacular.
Home & Willow Design is honored to be invited to be a part of this year’s Decorators’ Show House & Gardens. Julie Curry can’t wait to show her Rock-nRoll Bedroom, a teenager’s dream come true!
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THE 2024 DECORATORS’ SHOW HOUSE & GARDENS POSSIBLE!

In the early 1920s, the smoke and noise of commerce at the heart of Indianapolis created a need for residential solutions further from the city center. Following the advice of nationally recognized landscape architect George Kessler, city officials built wider bridges, widened existing streets, and created new streets to connect the city’s parks. Three segments of the upgraded streets were designated as boulevards and renamed for Mr. Kessler, all of which quickly came in handy with the rise of the automobile.
In anticipation of a suburban housing boom, three prominent Indianapolis businessmen envisioned an upscale neighborhood on the west side of Washington Township, about seven miles from Monument Circle. The partners named the new addition “Northern Estates Section 1,” and divided the acreage into large building sites. The second residence in Section 1 of Northern Estates was built in 1927 for Arthur and Emma Wolf. The architects of the Wolf home were Paul Matkin and James Loer of the Loman Company. The 130foot by 330-foot lot was given the address of 4360 North Kessler Boulevard West Drive. Although both the driveway into the property and the main entrance to the home faced Sylvan Road to the west, the residence would not have its present-day Sylvan Road address until several decades later.
Though they never resided in the property, the Wolfs would be the first of eight owners of the Sylvan House at Northern Estates. After its completion in 1927, the property was sold to Forest M. Knight, the owner of a local real estate company. Mr. Knight also never occupied the home. In 1928, he sold the property to Mr. and Mrs. Dudley M. Williston.
Dudley Williston owned/managed theatres for Warner Brothers Pictures with his wife, Louise. The same year he bought the Sylvan House, he purchased the Walker Theater on Indiana Avenue. Two short years later, the couple sold the property to John Warvel, Sr., M.D. and Ruth Warvel.
Dr. Warvel came to Indianapolis in 1919 and soon became a highly respected pathologist on the staff of Methodist Hospital. In 1923, Dr. Warvel gained notoriety for his testimony against D. C. Stephenson, the Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan, regarding the abduction, rape, and murder of a young woman named Madge Oberholtzer.
Ruth Warvel was a graduate of the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing. In 1923, Ruth had the honor of administering the very first injection of insulin to a diabetic patient after Eli Lilly’s new drug was approved. The event was attended by the then-single Dr. Warvel, and the two were married a few months later. Mrs. Warvel was also the
first president of the Indiana State Museum Society. The Warvels lived in the home on Sylvan Road for thirty-six years. In 1961, they installed an in-ground swimming pool in the yard to the rear or east side of the residence.
After her husband’s death in 1967, Mrs. Warvel sold the property to Charles and Verlene Herron. Chuck worked as the VP of Manufacturing for Esterline Agnus. Vee was a member of St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild and helped organize the annual Decorators’ Show House events for several years. They owned the property for almost four years before it changed hands once again to William Wise, M.D. and Anna Wise in 1972.
Dr. Wise ran a private practice in Indianapolis for fifty years. His wife, Anna was a registered nurse at Wishard Memorial Hospital (now Eskenazi Health) and at Roudebush Veterans Administration Hospital. In 1976, the garage served as the precinct voting location. Toward the end of the Wise family’s eight years of ownership, the house switched to its present-day address of 4521 Sylvan Road.
In 1978, John Munshower, M.D., and Marcia Munshower purchased the home. Dr. Munshower was a neurologist with Community Hospitals for forty-six years. He loved nature and was especially fond of The Sibley Guide to Birds. Marcia served as the Democratic precinct committee woman during the years they lived in the home. The Munshowers owned the property for almost twenty-eight years.
In 2006, the eighth and current owner, Jeneane Life purchased the property after living in other historic residences in the Indianapolis area. Jeneane works in the hospitality industry and owns and operates inns located in Indianapolis and Nantucket.
Although upgrades have been made over the 97 years since the home was constructed, many of the original quality materials and fine details of the home remain today. The exterior walls of the Englishstyle home have stucco and brick finishes, as well as half-timbers. The roof is slate. The formal entrance on the west side of the home is two stories high and made of Indiana limestone. Over the front door is a crest bearing a crossed sword and a knight’s helmet. The less formal entrance on the east side of the home overlooks the large lot, which slopes down to Kessler Boulevard below it.
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild is pleased to present this unique residence as the site of its primary fundraising event for 2024. Guild members, along with the homeowner, designers, sponsors, and advertisers, look forward to another year of supporting Indianapolis’ city hospital, Eskenazi Health.

Recognizing the foyer’s potential to captivate guests and draw them into the entire home, Julie O’Brien Design Group envisioned it as a room of intrigue. This dreamscape inspired entryway provides room for playfulness and imagination through statement pieces like the dripping light fixtures and sculptural tables. The mural, which was painted by local artist Megan Jefferson, interacts with the 3D fish to greet guests with that dreamlike inspiration. Motifs of eclectic modern and Asian influence give a small preview of the other areas of the home.

This lounge and powder bath were inspired by the sensibilities of an English country home. The space is rooted in traditional finishes with nods to garden spaces and floral decor. The small table used in the center of the lounge is 1/3 of a nesting coffee table set that is a favorite estate sale acquisition. Notice the chinoiserie fish bowl and collection of green pottery that mixes with lattice and rattan to make the space feel like it’s embedded in a 1920s English garden. Custom upholstery, softgoods and linens accent the fresh design while leaving room for the Thibault wallpaper to shine through.

The sunroom and vestibule set the tone for the rest of the home, acting as an extension of the outdoors with cheerful, inviting spring colors and floral patterns. The graphic yellow fabric adds an unexpected pop of color that brings out the check pattern in the floor tile. Rustic meets refined in this space. Elements of a traditional tropical conservatory have been enhanced with updated objects and popular botanical selections. As the bones of the greenhouse have remained in their original state, the decor is a mix of contradictions –concrete juxtaposed with wicker and rattan, steel framing and glass contrast with the organic materials and textiles. Right angles and the exposed structure are softened with plants and flowers. A calming oasis of greenery comes alive here with vintage garden furniture and modern accents and decor.

These three areas are meant to cohesively flow together as you work your way upstairs. The main goal for these areas was to bring in some brightness where natural light is less abundant. A neutral, cohesive paint color and new lighting provide a strong foundation, while the accessories throughout provide bold colors and lively patterns. The vintage chairs in the library were recovered to bring them new life in this historic home. The faux finishing on the stair wall alcove adds an unexpected pop of texture and highlights the unique architecture of the window. Vibrant artwork from local artists adds dimension and brightness in each space, while handcrafted rugs tie the spaces together.

The inspiration for this bedroom and bathroom pair began with the bathroom’s pre-existing art deco elements. The colors in the tile inspired patterns and colors for both spaces, which included the 1920s Japanese inspired Thibaut Honshu wallpaper and fabric. The chinoiserie motif combines the art deco elements that suit the period of the home with modern tastes and fresh elements. It has been reimagined with an updated color palette. The chinoiserie motif combines the art deco elements that suit the period of the home with modern tastes and fresh elements.
Bold blocks of black and white throughout the fabrics selected for the canopy, bedding, and bathroom decor help give the space modern contrast against textured traditional elements. Repeating patterns in both spaces, like the throw pillows on the bed coordinating with the bathroom wallpaper, are another way this space builds layers of contrast around the preexisting elements of the bedroom and ensuite.

One look through the bedroom windows at the lush woodland landscape, and you immediately understand the source of the inspiration for this timeless primary “master class” suite. The creative use of the Babylon willow-patterned wallpaper and fabric by the British firm, House of Hackney, supported by the repeated use of deep greens and soft neutrals, visually unifies the designated “zones” of this spacious room. The Schumacher damask fabric draped over the king-sized bed, the custom Sherwin-Williams green paint in the alcove, and the soft green velvet fabric on the chaise lounges speak in unison as the eye travels around this verdant bedroom. You will note the customized details, the faux fireplace, the innovative bedside tables, the TV wall cabinet, the commissioned local art and a layered bedscape featuring Bella Notte linens. The result is a multifunctional bedroom suite that is both stunning and classic.

SUPPORTER OF THE DECORATORS’ SHOW HOUSE AND GARDENS
Once upstairs, escape to the Cocktail Lounge – a sophisticated, glamorous retreat designed for relaxation, connection, sipping cocktails, and even playing chess. The gorgeous jewelry lights from Hudson Valley Lighting and the custom Eastern Accent drapes from Drapery Street build the natural decadence of this room. This is truly a space for lounging, with layers of pattern, texture, and fun to keep the conversation moving.
Walls and Trim: 7005 Pure White
Ceiling and Accent Wall: 6258 Tricorn Black Closet: 6293 Fabulous Grape
A special thanks for support from Hudson Valley Lighting, Ashley Stark Rugs for this stunning hand-knotted 8x10, Anna Afshar for her art, Kristy Stafford for the wallpaper and pillow fabric, Drapery Street for the drapes & pillow labor, and Patrick with Optimal-Living Solutions & Ferguson’s for installation help.
This clean, unpretentious take on classic Scandinavian design brings light, clean options to the first of two back hall bedrooms. A limewash treatment on the walls works with the original texture, adding depth and warmth. Worldly decor, vintage art supplies, fur and natural tone wood inspire exploration and travel to see the world’s wonders. The worldlyinspired elements of this room create a story of the daydreamer, and the building potential of a dream deferred. The draft table desk and mixed material bookshelf both nod to intellectual exploration, with a contemplative wooden chair in the alcove by the window (perfect for when you feel a brood coming on).

The style of the bedroom is eclectic but harmonious. A child’s bedroom is the perfect space to have a subject matter rather than pinpoint a single style. Inspired by my own son’s passion for music, this is a Rock and Roll retreat. The room is reminiscent of a condo you may find in Nashville TN, the hub of the music world.
The fabrics and wall applications have a nod to different aspects of music. Rhythm and piano keys will be hinted at in the materials. Lots of textures in a mostly neutral color pallet. The space plan allows for a teen to sleep, study or relax in their own space.

High contrast defines this back thoroughfare of the home. Light walls and trim expand the 30-foot back hallway outward, while dark, moody walls with a gallery-like display dominate the back stairway. Traditional moldings, vintage items, florals and abstract artwork give personality to this unique, experiential section of the home. Organic, elegant light fixtures with a white finish stand out against the dark walls and illuminate the abstract mixedmedia artwork.

With the addition of protective and stylish wainscotting and hooks for bags and jackets, the first floor hallway serves as a casual mudroom. This outdoor living space is an area that would work for entertaining a group, yet feel cozy and intimate for just one or two people. We chose furnishings that are comfortable, beautiful, and made to withstand the elements of Indiana weather. Adding pops of color and some out of the ordinary pieces have made this space one for all to enjoy. Our favorite piece is the counter height dining table. It offers an ambience while dining without sacrificing functionality and comfort.

Regarding the antiquity of the home, the focus has been on blending classical elements with contemporary living. Consequently, the sensibility of the kitchen lends itself to eclecticism.
Due to the existing kitchen’s considerable distance from the living space of the home, there was a necessity to create a multi-functional sitting area that embraces modern living. Recognizing the kitchen as the heart of the home, a technique inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright, known as “compression and release,” was employed. This involved painting the lower ceiling dark, thereby creating a sense of release upon entering the kitchen with its higher ceilings.
The Tulham™ Kitchen Collection by Brizo in Brilliance® Stainless combines elegant contours with art deco motifs for an inventive blend of the traditional and the avantgarde. SmartTouch® Technology on the pull-down faucet adds a layer of convenience by activating water flow with a simple tap on the faucet body, spout or handle.

The exterior of the property has been lovingly landscaped to reflect the English Tudor exterior, with some nods to modern sensibilities. Boxwoods weave through the front landscape to draw attention to the existing dogwood trees, which serve as the main focal point to the home’s landscaping. The doorways are flanked by pyramidal boxwoods, which add an elegant height to the green space while sheltering the colorful annuals below. A Colfax stepping stone path provides easy access around the garage to the rear of the property, where coral bells and big blue liriope frame the path. Floral beds wrap around the property, adding the perfect pop of color to complement the Traditional Tudor architecture of the home.

Let’s journey back to 1907, when St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild first sprang to life, ignited by the passion of five remarkable women. Their vision? To provide unwavering care and support to the patients of Indianapolis’ City Hospital. Over a century later, our mission remains steadfast, though the hospital’s name has evolved, from City Hospital to Eskenazi Health, reflecting our enduring commitment to service.
But why St. Margaret’s? This noble name harkens back to the selfless deeds of a ninth-century princess, who dedicated her life to healing the sick, comforting orphans, and uplifting the impoverished. It’s a legacy we proudly carry forward in every endeavor.
Since 1962, the annual Decorators’ Show House and Gardens has been our flagship event, transforming classic homes into showcases of elegance and charm. But it’s more than just a tour; it’s a beacon of hope for our community. Over the years, we’ve raised more than $14 million for Eskenazi Health, funding crucial equipment, groundbreaking programs, and vital services.
Thanks to your unwavering support, we’ve touched countless lives, from funding the Burn Unit and sponsoring mobile mammography
clinics to supporting mental health initiatives and pandemic response efforts. Our commitment knows no bounds, from summer therapy sessions for children to underwriting childbirth classes aimed at reducing infant mortality.
As we step into 2024, we’re thrilled to continue our pledge to the John and Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center, empowering future generations of clinical social workers and addiction counselors. With your generosity, we’re paving the way for a healthier, brighter future for all.
St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild stands as a proud pillar of volunteerism in Indianapolis, but none of this would be possible without the tireless efforts of designers, sponsors, corporations, and individuals like you. Together, we’re not just raising funds; we’re shaping a community where every person has access to the care and support they deserve. Thank you for being part of our story, and here’s to many more years of making a difference together.

“RG Decor sought a place in this year’s Decorators’ Show House with the enthusiasm to spotlight our design capabilities, extending beyond indoor spaces to the outdoors. The prospect of transforming this traditional English-style home, known for its timeless charm, resonated with our passion for creating distinctive designs across a diverse range of homes, both old and new.” — Karen
GreyHunt Interiors was honored to have the St. Margaret’s Hospital Guild ask if we would design a room in the 2024 Decorators’ Show House. Being new to the area but not to design, we were thrilled to be seen as the seasoned design firm we are and to be included with such great talent on this fun project.
What started as an idea between a Guild member and her daughter out on their neighborhood walks has blossomed into an incredible fundraising event! Dash by the Past is a family-friendly 5K or 1 mile walk with a scenic route that takes participants past previous Decorators’ Show House and Gardens homes on Meridian Street. The beautiful thoroughfare is closed to all traffic during the event. The run/walk begins and ends at the Meridian Restaurant & Bar at 57th and Meridian. Proceeds benefit the John and Kathy Ackerman Mental Health Professional Development Center at the Sandra Eskenazi Mental Health Center.
For the first time in the Decorators’ Show House & Gardens history, three homes were featured on Historic Lawton Loop at Fort Benjamin Harrison. The stately brick homes were built in 1908 as part of the Army Base.

Discovering the perfect show house is a journey filled with anticipation and excitement. From the moment we start scouting, potential candidates emerge from various sourceseager homeowners, insightful real estate agents, community surveys, and other local contacts. But what truly sets a Show House apart?
Picture this: a home that breathes space, boasting not just one, but front and back staircases, a grand central entrance hall, and a substantial garage or carriage house area. Its exterior is as inviting as its interior, with a sizable lawn and outdoor areas ready to be transformed by the hands of skilled landscapers. But it’s not just about size and structure; a show house must possess an undeniable charm and character, capable of captivating the public’s imagination.
Once selected, the chosen abode becomes a canvas for designer creativity, both inside and out. It’s not merely about custom decorating; instead, designers are granted the freedom to express their unique visions within a coordinated and integrated design scheme. To ensure cohesion, a Design Board, composed of seasoned designers and Guild members, carefully oversees area selection and evaluates proposals from the creative minds behind each transformation.
Imagine the thrill of being a homeowner for the Decorators’ Show House and Gardens - an experience that’s as fulfilling as it is rewarding.
