The Dallas-Fort Worth Metro area is a massive metropolitan area that is the economic and cultural center of North Texas. It is an area where almost eight million Americans reside, one of the largest and most populated areas in the entire country. This area has numerous well-known attractions, from the State Fair of Texas to the art district of Dallas. There’s much to do and see in this expansive area beyond the big cities as well. While Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington are the three big cities in this area that most of the population resides in, numerous appealing towns, communities, and smaller cities surround these big ones. Surrounding the big cities are some of the best places to live in the state. Let’s explore some of the incredible towns and cities to make a home around the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Let’s start with Southlake, Colleyville, and Lucas. Southlake is a charming suburb home to around 33,000 residents. It is one of the most affluent cities in the country, a place where many of the city’s wealthy residents reside. It has stunning luxury real estate options and top-notch local schools.

Colleyville is situated between Dallas and Fort Worth and is home to 27,000. It is another wealthy suburb with the luxury real estate that comes with it. It is a suburb that attracts a lot of different families due to the highly-rated school system and extremely low crime rate, which recently had it rated one of the 100 safest cities in America. Haslet is located roughly 15 miles north of Fort Worth. It is a very small little town with less than 2,000 residents, giving it a quiet and comfortable feel. With easy access to the big city, this town attracts residents looking for somewhere peaceful to live away from the bright lights. Lastly, we have Frisco, Flower Mound, and Sunnyvale. Frisco is a major city that has over 177,000 residents. It is a growing city that is popular and fun. It has numerous family-friendly museums and attractions, including the National Video Game Museum and the Sci-Tech Discovery Center. It is often ranked amongst Texas’ safest cities and is great for families. Flower Mound gets its name from a massive 12.5-acre mound of colorful flowers in the town center. Flower Mound is a vibrant and pleasant community recently ranked the fourth best place to live in the country. Sunnyvale is on the east end of Dallas County, a small town home to just over 6,500.
