Crazy Cluckers Ranch Pearl R Podlinsek is self-taught artist, developing skills in the unique medium of egg shell art. She creates images on and into the cleansed shells of chicken eggs. Eggs she obtains from her own flock of hens that she affectionately refers to as “the Girls”. Born and raised a city girl in Southfield Michigan, she found her calling when she moved into the home of her now husband, Victor, 5 acres in Oceola Township (Howell) Michigan. Always an animal lover, it didn’t take long before a small flock of chickens joined their household. She began carving egg shells in the summer of 2013, a hobby to fill the creative void her office position left her with. The following summer she began selling the carving at the local farmers market where she sold the fresh eggs. Encouraged by the response she received, she became a vendor at local arts & craft shows on the weekends. She continually strives to make her carvings more intricate, more detailed, more creative. In the fall of 2015, with the support and encouragement of her husband and their children, Katarina, Victorjohn and Sabrina, she left the company where she had worked for 24 years as a Project Manager, to pursue her desire to create whimsical pieces of egg art. She is always learning, always pushing herself to try something more. In 2017 she took her first steps into larger egg art with Ostrich and Emu eggs, purchased from several Michigan Ranches. Using the skills that she has developed on chicken eggs, she creates multileveled images and landscapes, utilizing the natural colorings of the shell, into the Emu eggs. While she can complete 3 chicken egg carvings in a day, the intricacies worked into the Emu carvings require 2 to 3 days to complete each egg. Although Emu eggs present her with new creative challenges, her favorite remains to be the chicken eggs from her own girls. BIOGRAPHY I am a born and raised Yooper! I grew up in the country seven miles out of Houghton, MI! I married in August 2012 to my beautiful wife Anna, who is also a born and raised Yooper from Hancock, MI! We just welcomed our son, Carter, into the world on 12/28/2018! E D U C AT I O N I Attended Houghton High School (2006), continued on to Michigan Technological University to pursue and receive an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering Technology (2008). I N T E R E ST S I love spending time outdoors, mostly on the shores of Lake Superior. I spend time up in the Houghton/Hancock area in the summers cruising the Houghton Canal and Portage Lake on my pontoon boat named “The SandBar ll”! I really enjoy swimming, snorkeling, and just cruising the waters with the radio on and the smell of burgers or hot dogs cooking on the grill! I also enjoy exploring what the Upper Peninsula has to offer by going on camping trips, and weekend adventures! November 15th is a holiday for me! I love deer hunting, especially rifle season! I go to camp every deer season and try to bag a nice buck, which only has happened a couple times, but I enjoy the camp life and getting out in the woods! I am a huge fan of hockey, I love to play and watch! My favorite teams to watch are the Detriot Red Wings and the NMU Wildcats! I try to get down to Detroit once a season to catch a Wings game and usually make it to every Wildcats home game!
