The biggest school in Wilmington is the highly-regarded University of North Carolina Wilmington, which has a substantial undergraduate population

RALEIGH

Raleigh is the state capital and one of the biggest cities in North Carolina. Raleigh is one of the three cities (Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill) that make up the state’s Research Triangle, named for the high volume of universities and colleges in the area. Raleigh has appealing historic architecture and several major universities. The biggest is North Carolina State University, which has a massive student population of around 36,000. NC State football and basketball games are both huge draws, and many businesses in the city cater to students.

CHAPEL HILL

Chapel Hill is a scenic college town with pleasant architecture, home to the state’s famed University of North Carolina, or UNC. UNC has a gorgeous campus with excellent museums and a basketball team that has produced legends like Michael Jordan. The city’s busy center, Franklin Street, is filled with restaurants and bars that students flock to every night of the week. OAK ISLAND

I left there in July 2017 and took off independently with Zachary Luke Designs as owner and principal designer.

We work with other business owners to help them have a welldesigned environment for their employees and clientele within the LKN and surrounding areas. We also find ourselves very involved in many of the LKN community organizations. We’ve donated to and worked well with organizations such as Ada Jenkins, the Rotary Club, and Business Leaders of Charlotte over the past few years.

What are the latest trends in your field on which you can educate/ serve your clients?

We try to explain our design decisions to clients and make them feel comfortable every step of the way. We don’t only design, we try to educate on design decisions. Our goal is to guide and provide information so that our clients feel empowered to make informed decisions for their lifestyles.

We respect clients’ preferences, yet we offer professional opinions on what we can do to tweak to complement your style while keeping with the ebb and flor of the design.

What are your company’s goals for the future?

We want to grow the company, expand our services, and serve more people in the community. We plan on increasing our reach throughout the community to serve more bar, restaurant, and boutique clients by expanding our commercial products and services to serve this clientele better.

How has the recent COVID-19 pandemic affected your business and how have you managed to adapt to the restrictions placed on your business in order to serve your customers?

We now offer complimentary 30-minute Zoom appointments since the onset of covid to answer questions and get to know our prospective clients before the client commits to having us out. Our first appointment is a good, solid working appointment where we can set a plan in motion with clients. This allows us to establish repour before coming into the home, utilizing time wisely in your home without feeling like a complete stranger is in your home.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with readers?

Great Design 4 U strives to take the stress out of the design process. Our goal from start to finish is to help you make informed decisions about your space with guidance from our professionals. Our top priority is that when the project is finished, you enjoyed the experience and love the result.

What is your educational/training background?

Our manager and lead interior designer Anna Stowe is a graduate of High Point University with a bachelors in interior design and continues to take continuous education courses to stay current of the latest products, treads and practices in the design and

building industry…as do all of our employees, we go a step further and only recommend contractors that meet our high standards.

How did you decide on this career track?

As a young child, Anna Stowe found love for architecture and design, so it was only fitting for her to follow this career path which led her to the world of interior design before the popularity of such tv shows and networks geared specifically toward interior design.

Does your company have any special ways they support or offer services to female employees?

We offer a supportive environment, emphasizing positive affirmations with employees so that they feel empowered to expand their knowledge and their confidence. Anna Stowe herself has learned under strong female leaders to bring her knowledge and motivation into the workplace. We all understand that life can be stressful, so we try to make it a stress-free environment. We provide opportunities for growth to help employees become well-rounded in the real world and design world.

In what ways do you seek to empower women in the workplace?

We are always supporters, cheerleaders, and happy for women’s successes. We don’t allow belittling. We try to motivate with every opportunity. We love working with women who want their individual spaces, such as working women’s office space, whether it’s in a home office or commercial environment. We try to work around working single mothers’ schedules as much as possible because we know how hard they work for themselves, their family, and their businesses. By guiding their space into something they love, we hope to be empowering women through this space with a stress-free and beautiful environment.
