OMR is a contemporary art gallery located in Mexico City. Founded in 1983 by Patricia Ortiz Monasterio and Jaime Riestra, the gallery is located in the Roma neighborhood, which is now recognized as the leading area of Mexico City’s artistic scene. Sprüth Magers is pleased to announce its participation in Art Basel Miami Beach 2021. The gallery will present a selection of works that exhibit the breadth of today's painterly practices, including new and recent works by John Baldessari, George Condo, Lucy Dodd, Gary Hume, Anne Imhof, Karen Kilimnik, David Ostrowski, Ed Ruscha and Andreas Schulze. Artists working in between painting and sculpture, whose objects occupy a space that complicates the bounds of traditional media, include Cyprien Gaillard, Michail Pirgelis, Analia Saban and Rosemarie Trockel. The gallery's long-standing support of contemporary photography, particularly with a conceptual framework, will be represented by Cao Fei, Thomas Demand, Louise Lawler and Cindy Sherman. Trained in Marseille (France) as a painter, Stoll discovered he was also a photographer, almost by chance, in 1993 when a friend offered him a camera. He then put aside his pictorial practice for twenty years and became instantaneously famous for his photographs. He produced hundreds of them that immediately took place among the most radical and decisive images of contemporary photography in the 1990s.

Miami is one of the most vibrant cities in the world. It is a colorful place known for its Latin-American culture, exuberant nightlife, and trendy restaurants and shops. It is a beautiful city on the ocean with white sand beaches, filled with great music, food, and dance. In one of America’s premier destinations for culture and color, it is only natural that the ultimate celebration of these things takes place in Miami every year: Art Basel.

Every year in three different locations, Art Basel becomes the center of the art world. It is a for-profit collection of shows in various galleries and convention centers and is considered one of the biggest and trendiest contemporary art fairs on the planet. The different cities host the event at times throughout the year. It is considered a luxurious, fashionable event that draws in a veritable who’s-who of the art and fashion world.


Art Basel was started in the Swiss city of Basel in the year 1970. It was created to form a rival for Art Cologne, another contemporary art fair in Germany, and it quickly shot to popularity. Art Basel was founded by different art professionals and immediately saw success, gaining acclaim and many visitors. After continued growth, the first offshoot of Art Basel was created: Art Basel at Miami Beach. The venue couldn’t make any more sense. Miami is a city with a massive art scene, but not as deeply established as New York and Los Angeles, making Art Basel the biggest show in town. Located at the Miami Beach Convention Center, this massive event takes place over several days, from December 1st-4th, 2021. Miami Art Basel is one of three Art Basel events globally, with the other two in Hong Kong and Basel. This event typically brings 70,000 visitors to Miami and hosts work from over 250 galleries. It is where the entrenched superstars and the rising talent display their latest and greatest, and it is an event where artists love to make noise. It is one of the big art events of the year, and this Art Basel Miami Beach could be one of the biggest ones yet. Art Basel, like most of the world, was impacted heavily by the global pandemic of COVID-19. While the 2019 version was allowed to transpire, with the virus primarily contained to one side of the world, the pandemic had gone worldwide by the time Art Basel Miami Beach 2020 was supposed to happen. An event that brings thousands of people to indoor galleries was untenable, and unfortunately, the 2020 version of Art Basel Miami Beach was canceled. This was a tough blow for a large number of artists and galleries hoping to use this event as a platform to help elevate their careers and a large blow for the city of Miami. While Miami is a well-off city, Art Basel is a huge event that is massive for tourism and one of the cultural events of the year for Miami. While 2020 was tough, that just makes the excitement over Art Basel Miami Beach 2021 all the greater, and it is more than poised to live up to the hype. This year, the art displays will feature modern and contemporary art from some of the great artists of the 20th century to emerging talents looking to stamp their name on history.

There will be a variety of curated displays curated by major galleries and new galleries, and the art displays will cross the boundaries of mediums. There will also be various events, conversations, and opportunities to interact with the rising stars of the art world.
