At the onset of summer, people across Washington State begin looking forward to Seafair, which brings a massive slate of outdoor activities throughout the season. Seafair, an annual tradition in Seattle that dates back to 1950, presents an array of spectacles on land, air, and sea.
The Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade, one of the significant Seafair traditions, will take place on July 29th and is free to attend. The parade celebrates the traditions and diversity of the Pacific Northwest’s culture. The parade will feature prancing horses, local sports teams, dancers, acrobats, and more. And on July 23rd, more than 1,400 participants will partake in the Seafair Triathlon, Seattle’s only triathlon.
On the water, Seafair treats attendees to unique and unparalleled sights. The HomeStreet Bank Cup, scheduled for August 4th-6th, will feature hydroplanes racing along Lake Washington in an intense competition. These watercrafts reach top speeds of 220 miles per hour. The Seafair Seattle Fleet Week is another astonishing display on the water. From August 1st-6th, incredible ships from the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard, and Royal Canadian Navy will fill Seattle’s waterfront. Attendees can visit exhibits and learn about the area’s fascinating maritime history.
The Boeing Seafair Air Show is one of the most iconic parts of this festival. On August 4th-6th, audiences will witness breathtaking maneuvers guaranteed to leave their hearts racing.
