For me it is sad news, Ian had always taken the time out to help me with a ny IT issues, new etc. As Andrew equipment Blake-Herbert h a s mentioned, Ia to have a very n appeared dry sense of hu m our which his co would have bet lleagues ter knowledge of than I did, b ut with this in mind, I used to make light of th is. On a bright an d funny note, w henever I would Ian / the ICT T have to visit eam, I would o n th e approach to th Bell sing Anita e famous Wards “You Ca n R ing My Bell”. O this was an inte bviously rnal singing m o m ent, as the offic always quite fu e was ll. However, du ring lockdown visit a sole IT O I did have to fficer who was in th e back room, so opportunity to took the sing the song a loud on the wa lk through the office. These are the th ings we should remember when loss of life, the there is a funny times. M y thoughts are with all of his loved ones.

Compared to so me planning co lleagues, I had little direct an very d regular conta ct w it h Ian but on every occasion I dealt with him he was always super patient, thorough and u nderstanding a nd his ‘customer care’ was second to n one. Ian was a grea t resource for th e IT Customer desk. I also obse help rved at first ha n d h o w he helped deliver some key projects and to ols to the plann service such as ing GIS. Ian bailed m e o u t w ith password resets on my iP ad on so many occasions! He n seemed exasper ever ated when I ar r iv ed w ith my iPad and a garbled explanation as to how I had m anaged to freeze it (ag ain). Unfailingly, Ia n was also very discreet and diplomatic and carefully mana ged to cover up own IT shortco my mings (of whic h th er e w ere many). Ian was a real asset to IT in p articular and th Council as a w e hole and I am certain his skil ls and experience wil l be much misse d.
