E-BOOKS & CREDO REFERENCE ONLINE HPU Libraries acquired the Credo Reference Ebook collection this year! If you are studying from afar, this is a sure way to find encyclopedic reference material. Credo is an awardwinning collection of over 300 online reference books. The database contains dictionaries, encyclopedias, thesauri, and books of
quotations, as well as a variety of subjectspecific titles covering everything from the arts to accountancy and law to literature. It also has an image collection, maps, customizable data, and audio pronunciation files. (Source: Credo) Credo is available 24/7 Just go to the Libraries tab in HPU Pipeline, click on databases and
find it under the "Reference & Statistics" subject heading. Additional Resources: Books 24/7 is a popular collection of ebooks for Business and Technology. and Ebrary ebooks provides full text access to more than 30,000 titles in all subject areas.

MEEBO VIRTUAL REFERENCE The HPU Libraries tab in Pipeline now offers a live chat reference service. This means you can chat with a reference desk librarian from the comfort of your own computer. Our “Live Chat” uses an IM (instant message) widget developed by a
company called Meebo. Meebo.com has developed this service to allow visitors to use instant messenging from absolutely anywhere. Whether you are on campus, at home, or at work, you can use any computer with internet access to to contact an
HPU reference librarian. No downloads or installations are necessary — it’s free! The Meebo “green light” on our webpage means we are ready to chat!

OFF-CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS: SCHOFIELD BARRACKS SGT. YANO LIBRARY
Sargeant Rodney Yano Vietnam War, Medal of Honor Recipient
Named for Medal of Honor recipient from the Vietnam conflict, Sgt. Rodney Yano Library is the post library for Schofield Barracks as well as the Regional Reference Center, IMCOM-Pacific. HPU students who are stationed at Schofield
can access databases via HPU libraries and also through Military OneSource, AKO (Army Knowledge Online), and ProQuest databases among others. The On-Line Public Access catalog (OPAC)can be accessed online 24 hours per day.
Students have access to test-prep resources such as CLEP, SAT, ACT, and more. CLEP online practice tests can be accessed 24/7. More information is available at: www.usarmy.mil Or call 808/655-8002
WHAT IS POPULAR AT SGT. YANO LIBRARY? Bonnie Dong, Supervisory Librarian, oversees the library and its provision of services for enlisted students and their families. A valid Dept. of Defense (DOD) card is necessary to check out
materials and children must be sponsored. Popular items at Yano Library include audio books, videos/DVDs, music CDs, and videogames. The library has a “Wishing Tree” full of
wishes for when loved ones are leaving for duty and soldiers can also record a story (video) for their children before deploying. An upcoming program will showcase anime and manga!
READ TO A DOG @ SGT YANO OR FORT SHAFTER! Make a dog smile! Ms. Dong began an innovative program, “Read to the Dogs” for military dependents. Children who are able to read on their own can sign-up for a 15 minute session to read to a therapy dog at SGT Yano
Library or Fort Shafter Library throughout the Fall on Saturdays and Sundays. Parents have reported their children now read to family pets and that their children have improved reading grades
since participating in this program! For more information or to reserve a session, call 808/655-8002 (Yano) or 808/438-9521 (Fort Shafter). Read to the Dogs is offered on a first come, first serve basis.
