“ Robin Sanz, Germany

Alice Minor, Philippines

Hawai‘i is a dream for every European and I like the weather here very much. Then I heard that HPU is a good place to go for international students because HPU offers a wide range of courses. Very important for me were also the goals of the tennis team. We are one of the best teams in the league and the goal for this season is to finish first. I am very happy at HPU because I can combine university life, fun on the island and the good support in tennis.”

Coming to HPU as an international student was an experience that helped me grow and mature while also being super fun. For any international students, know that studying abroad in Hawai’i is one of the best choices you can make. In Hawai‘i you have the city if you want and you also have beautiful natural environments like the mountains and the beaches. HPU is the best college for so many reasons.”

“ Truong Nguyen, Vietnam

Kristine Wik, Norway

The first time I left Vietnam was to come to Hawaiʻi Pacific University. Right away, I felt welcomed by my professors, advisors and classmates here. The university is fantastic and the classes are interesting and will help me in my chosen career of electrical engineering. I joined the computer science club and I am also a math tutor. I like to go to the beach or hiking and the food in Honolulu is so good! I highly recommend HPU to future students.”

I came to HPU as a visiting student and loved the school and Hawaiʻi so much that I had to come back for my undergraduate degree. There are so many opportunities for students at HPU because of its convenient urban location. HPU gives you more than a degree. My time here prepares me for my future professional career. If you like exploring and diversity, then HPU is the school for you!!”

THE STORY OF A SYMBOL

Hawaiʻi Pacific University’s logo is much more than a mark on our campus flags and banners. There is a story behind the making of our logo which symbolizes all that HPU emanates to the world. Renowned designer Sig Zane created our logo in 2018, and it has fast become beloved by all. The symbol is a contemporary interpretation of the shapes of leaves and the delivery of water and knowledge with five meanings behind-the-scenes:

Maka – Kumu and Haumana Auwai – Aloha, Pono, Kuleana Lama – Enlightenment Kumuwai – Source of Water Kahawai – Flow of Water

THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO AT HPU

I was initially drawn to HPU because of the wide offering of programs for me to explore my interests. The advisors and counselors made my transition to college seamless and I always felt welcomed and that I had the support of a community. I have made lifelong friends and will always be a Shark at heart.” Haruka Yamamoto, Japan
