STORIES FROM WAIMEA AND BEYOND SUMMER 2023

Celebrating Our Time Together

Thank you to everyone who made this year’s alumni reunion weekend so wonderful. We are deeply honored to share in such a special time with all of you. Experiencing generations of Ka Makani together — hiking or riding through the pu ʻ u, charging down the waterslide, sharing stories and songs at lū ʻ au, or reflecting on the power of friendships and place at Davies Memorial Chapel — creates countless memories. For those of you who were unable to attend this year, we hope to see you next year.

These shared memories sustain us, helping to connect our treasured past to the current student experience, and to the promise of our future. Each one of you plays an important part in HPA’s story. Ka Makani is forever!

We hope to see you back on campus soon. Whether it’s at our Alu Mai Gala to support financial aid, or as a current parent creating new memories as part of our legacy ʻ ohana, we are always happy to welcome you with open arms!

Catching up on Commencement

Welcome to our newest alumni — the Class of 2023

It is with great joy and pride that we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the newest members of our alumni family.

Let us take a moment to reflect on our own graduation day, when we stood on the precipice of endless possibilities, ready to embark on new adventures. We reminisce about the friendships formed, the teachers who inspired us, and the lessons learned both inside and outside the classroom. Those memories remain etched in our hearts, forever reminding us of the foundation HPA provided for our futures.

To the recent graduates, as you step into this new chapter of your lives, remember that you are now part of a vibrant and supportive community of alumni. We stand united, bound by our shared experiences, and committed to upholding the values that HPA instilled in us.

To our newest alumni, may your journey be filled with success, fulfillment, and meaningful contributions to society. Carry the spirit of HPA within you, knowing that you have the support and admiration of the entire Ka Makani alumni community.

Alu Mai 2023 Join In for Financial Aid!

Alu Mai, our annual gala in support of financial aid, takes place on Saturday, November 18, 2023, on our Upper Campus. First established in 1973 by Anna Lindsey PerryFiske, founding HPA trustee, Pa’u rider, and legendary hostess, proceeds from Alu Mai support financial aid and open doors to deserving students at HPA.

This year the festivities begin with a champagne and pūpū reception, followed by dinner from Paʻina by Ocean, special entertainment, and dancing to music from a seven-piece band. Our carefully curated art and auction opportunities are wholly unique and designed to inspire your generosity and aloha.
