Considering construction? Not sure where to start? Step 1: Finance with Washington Federal. We still believe there’s no place like home. elcome to our 10th annual parade of homes! It is unlike any other tour you have attended — both
because of its unparalleled setting in our beautiful mounWhether you are touring for the first time or are one
of the thousands who has attended previous years’ Parades, we are looking forward to having you spend a few wonderful days with us, enjoying the more relaxed pace and beauty that we enjoy. Our builders stand ready to show you some great options for relocation for full-time, year-round family living or retirement or just owning a second home for your enjoyment. Our builders have many years of mountain building experience and know how to choose products that hold up best in our sometimes harsh climate as well as those which least impact our environment. The incorporation of smart product options and green features, combined with our members’ commitment to the structural integrity of a home, is evident in the finished product that is not only efficient, practical and durable, but attractive as well.
In this Parade of Homes magazine you will find information about the
builders and the homes and products. You will also find a detailed map to help you locate and visit the homes. Take your time, talk with the builders and their representatives and most of all, enjoy your time in Angel Fire!

WHAT’S NEW… IN ANGEL FIRE HOOKED UP Kit Carson Electric Cooperative/Telecom has completed nearly 100 percent of mainline construction in the Angel Fire area and is now in the process of connecting individual homes and businesses with either overhead or underground drops. Angel Fire has had one of the highest concentrations of connections and requests for fiber optic service. The feedback to Kit Carson has been extremely positive; high speed connections are ranging from 5 to 100 Mbps (megabits per second). The Shuter Library has an extremely fast connection speed and offers free public wi-fi to the community, as does the new Angel Fire I-Hub which boasts a 1Gb (gigabyte) connection speed. In partnership with Kit Carson Electric, the Angel Fire I-Hub will be used as a tool to attract and promote growth of technology companies, “giving visitors, entrepreneurs, and individuals the ability to tele-commute and to experience true high-speed internet connectivity in the serenity of Angel Fire. This is a true win-win for both Kit Carson and the Angel Fire community,” said Andrew Gonzales, PIO for Kit Carson Electric/Telecom.

hile driving up North Angel Fire Road, visitors and locals are greeted by a bugling elk in the median affectionately named Elliot. The life-sized sculpture
and surrounding plants and flowers are just one of the many cherished projects the Angel Fire Garden Club has pioneered in the community.
Active since 1991 and starting with only 14 members, the group has bloomed
to over 60 members and is now the largest garden club in New Mexico. The club was honored again this summer when a Blue Star Memorial By-Way Marker was dedicated to the Butterfly Garden which surrounds Shuter Library. The markers pay tribute to the U.S. Armed Forces and the garden club was also responsible for the marker at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park, and continues to maintain their garden.
The club has declared 2016 as the Year of the Butterfly and is focusing on polli-
nator-friendly plants which help both the bees and the butterflies. The annual Garden Club Tour in July combines tours of local gardens with fundraising efforts primarily aimed toward the Ponderosa Pines Junior Garden Club. For more information, visit

xciting news for high school students attending Moreno Valley High School this fall: the new building will be open on time. The extensive multi-million dollar project has progressed quickly and is expected to be completed by the end of July with students arriving at the beginning of the school year in August. The new school is built in an academy style architecture consisting of a series of connected pods, which are organized by the subject matter taught. There will be no hallways and students will circulate between pods from the outside, taking in a bit of fresh air and mountain views between classes. Cimarron School District Superintendent Adan Estrada was pleased with the progress and looking forward to opening the doors to the students in the fall. “The students and community will benefit from the school now that our united plans have come to fruition, he said. There will be an Open House at the new facility Saturday September 3, 1-3 pm. MVHS is a flourishing public charter school and highly rated at state and national level. mvhsnm.org

his summer guests at the new luxury Angel Fire RV Resort, located on Highway 64, can participate in wine and cheese receptions and live music
performances, as well as Dutch oven cooking demonstrations. The 35-acre resort borders the Carson National Forest and offers panoramic views of
the surrounding landscape. Now boasting 102 over-sized concrete spaces with easy pull-through access and full 30/50 amp hookups, it is a great homebase to explore the outdoor beauty of northern New Mexico.
A putting green, horse-
shoe pits and pickleball courts have been added to the long list of amenities which include a private clubhouse, DirectTV access, showers, laundry facilities, community fire pits, and a hot tub.

WHAT’S NEW… From page 7
High Flyers T
he Angel Fire Airport continues to offer strong airport transpor-
tation services to the area and has introduced ground leases so aviators can build custom airplane hangars to suit their needs.
Charter Fleet International is now
offering chartered flights from the Dallas area directly to Angel Fire. Prices vary and flight times can be as fast as 1.5 hours, depending on which type of plane is chartered. Additional information is available online at www.charterfleetintl.com.
Renovations at the airport have continued with new doors and windows having already been installed. A new roof is
slated for later in the summer.
The high-altitude 8,900-foot runway can accommodate a wide range of aircraft, from smaller single and twin engine
airplanes to corporate jets such as a Gulfstream G550 or Bombardier Global Express.
FRONTIER PLAZA HQ
T
he summer just got even cooler in Angel Fire since the Frontier Plaza started hosting a new
weekly concert series and farmers’ market.
Located at the bottom of North Angel Fire Road,
the Frontier Plaza is the headquarters for The Cool Summer Nights Concert Series every Friday night in July and August. Bring the whole family and relax from 5 -7:30 pm while listening to a wide variety of musical genres. Pack a picnic or enjoy great food and drinks from local restaurants. Featured artists include Felix and Los Gatos, The Jimmy Stadler Band and The Rudy Boy Experiment. There will also be a Kid’s Zone with fun games and activities such as giant Jenga and face painting.
The Angel Fire Art + Farmers’ Market takes place Sundays from July 3 to September 4 from 11 am - 3 pm. The market
features a diverse selection of local and regional artists and artisans selling everything from paintings, pottery and jewelry to soaps and baked goods. Remember to stock up on a great selection of fresh, locally grown produce and honey. For more, visit:
