As an architectural intern at Corgan and HKS, as well as involvement in more than 10 international and domestic mission projects, geared toward building renovation and rehabilitation, Hayden Hood possesses real-world architectural experience. Hayden demonstrates competent leadership first, as a student of environmental design by serving as class liaison to the department head of the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University and as team manager of numerous group projects; also, formerly, as captain of his high school basketball team and student body vice-president. Endowed with a rigorous work ethic, Hayden started and operated two local businesses while in high school and was promoted to lead maintenance assistant for Central Baptist Church in Round Rock, Texas. Hayden graduated high school with a distinguished achievement diploma, then became part of the Texas A&M College of Architecture Honors Program. While working on his environmental design degree at Texas A&M University, Hayden also makes time for community service organizations such as BUILD, and BYX fraternity, where he serves as a cell group leader. Apart from his many responsibilities, Hayden uses an eye for detail and aesthetics to aid him in a passion for numerous forms of art. AUTHOR’S LODGE

The Writers’ Lodge is a multi-use retreat facility for authors, designed to optimize creativity, relaxation, and productivity. Both public and private spaces provide various levels of interaction with admirers. As a shared space, the ground floor provides a café and lounge with a centralized fireplace where collaboration between writers and interaction with fans are encouraged.
Transcending above the lounge as a cozy loft, the second floor houses an interactive library and bookstore for wordsmiths to research, devotees to purchase completed works, and recline in the nooks of the A-frame or immerse themselves in nature on the balconies perched among the tree tops.

PIVOT MUSEUM
18
The Pivot Museum Project is a solo project that consists of exploring two architectural terms; refining the two terms into one; then designing a museum which explores the one term. The two terms are subdivide and rotate: these terms combine into pivot. Pivot Museum brings the investigation of fluid circulation space, lights and shadows, programs, establishing a
transition space, analyzing site and context, structures and parking systems, designing an inventive, indirect natural-lighting system, floorplans, sections, elevations, hand rendering.

HARVEY RAINFALL DATA
30
The Harvey Rainfall Data project is a team project to design and produce a sculptural memorial that recognizes those effected by the destruction of Hurricane Harvey. The design explores complex, organic surfaces brought from a compilation of data points extracted from a rainfall graph of four days effected by Hurricane Harvey. These graphs come from three nearby areas (Pearland, Hobby, and
League City, Texas) and their average average. The points on the th graph are used to govern digital form-making. The sculpture brings the investigation of different methods of construction for a curved surface (triangulated, and shingled) which informs the design, fabrication and assembly of the 3’x6’ panel. As seen on Texas A&M Today (9-22-17) and KBTX-TV News (9-18-17)

FUNNEL RESTROOM
36
The Funnel Restroom project is a sustainable building that offers an eco-friendly bathroom facility, utilizing a water retention system, composting toilets, and locally-sourced materials. The design complements the surrounding environment and resembles a funnel, acting as the roof, that circulates rainwater to a centralized holding tank.
Rather than disguising the sustainable elements, they are focal points for the overall form, thus inspiring innovation toward a more renewable future.

GARDEN FOLLY

Nestled among scenic hiking trails, the Garden Folly Project stands as a visual landmark providing shelter, rest, and lakeside views to travelers. Constructed of organic, locally-sourced materials, the Folly offers unique and terraced seating to promote interaction with the monumental landscape.

TRANSFORMATION HOUSE
44
The Transformation House is a solo project which explores combining two definitions into a design of a house for an artist with a studio. The definitons examined are carve and fragmentation; when combined, they are understood as transformation. The design explores the concept of a “living” house that can be transformed from a confined space of refuge
to a spacious space of prospect. experience gained includes public vs private circulation, designing based on a grid, a balance between residential and commercial space, floor plans, sections, elevations, and hand renderings.
