The whole world is grappling with this unprecedented threat to our lives. All sorts of fears alarm us. No one wants to die. Noone wants their loved ones to die.
AFRAID? Many people are taking personal risks to help their neighbours in various ways. This willingness to show selfsacrifice is seen in the life of Jesus. Jesus’ greatest act of selfsacrifice was to die on the cross. His death involved intense suffering which was more than the cruelty and torture he received before he died, more than the whipping which lacerated his back, more than the nails which tore his flesh, more than the pain of rejection, humiliation and separation from those he loved. He also had to endure the pain of separation from his God and Father, whom he had always loved and obeyed.
Jesus died on a cross when about 33 years old
But why did Jesus have to die? God’s love for us meant that Jesus had to die, suffering God’s judge ment for our sins. He had no sins of His own. Amazingly, Jesus was willing to die on our behalf. It was the reason he was born. In keeping his promise to send a Saviour to deal with our sin problem, God sent Jesus from heaven, on a mission that led him to the hill of the skull (Golgotha), to be crucified outside Jerusalem.
"God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
What happened to Jesus after his death? Jesus grave is empty
“God raised Him from the dead”
This unprecedented event was witnessed by many people, and is re corded in the New Testament. God accepted Jesus’ sacrifice on our be half. This is the amazing love of God for us. He freely offers salvation to all who turn from their sins to God and accept Jesus as their Saviour. Some people ignored the Government's Coronavirus advice about so cial distancing. Now we are commanded to stay at home to slow the spread. More importantly, God commands all people everywhere to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. (Acts 17:30,31) "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him." (John 3:36)
There is only one remedy to our sin problem, the fear of dying and being judged by God: Obey God believe in Jesus today!
