Construction of Double Page Spread Analysis of Changes

Header Font I intend for the header typeface to be a one of the most impactful elements on the page. In order to maintain consistency within my house style, I originally used the font ‘Streetbrush’ which is the same font used for the main cover line on the front cover. I found this quite disappointing, appearing disjointed from the linear composition carried over from the contents page. Even when manipulating the angles and widths of the text, I was still unhappy with the results.

!

Because of this, I decided to search for a similar brushed style typeface to ‘Streetbrush’ which would fit with the previous style. I came across a font named ‘Brush Up’ which, whilst retaining the edgy and brushed style, was more linear and fitting with the composition of the page.

!

In order to still maintain some of the original font, the line beneath the header used to underline the text is actually a lowercase letter ‘L’ from the ‘Streetbrush’ font, hence still retaining an aspect of the original typeface.

Despite the change in typeface in the DPS, I have received positive feedback that the original typeface works well on the front cover, so I shall leave the original font as-is.

Article Question Colour To continue the house style further, I took colours used in the contents page and front cover to integrate them into the design. I felt that the best way to subtly do this whilst staying relevant is to use the teal tone for the questions and pull quotes.

!

Originally, I used the light teal that is in the main cover line on the front cover and regular article list in the contents page. Upon printing this to make amendments, I found the light colour quite distracting, hence not creating a ow which is witnessed on the other pages.

!

To change this, I used the darker teal from the main cover line and page numbers from the contents page to create a colour closer to the black, but without blending completely.
