Hayman Kinpan Lo I’m a graphic designer with a fashion design background have a keen interest in branding and identity design.

La Luz Coffee & Patisserie - Branding La Luz is a speciality coffee shop in Hong Kong serving coffee from Brisbane and homemade pastries. La Luz means “light” in Spanish. The founder of the brand used to live in Brisbane, Australia for 7 years. She embraces the Aussie coffee culture and the Aussie casual and cheerful vibe very much. La Luz is the place for her to recreate and spread out the Aussie coffee culture and vibe in the urban and busy Hong Kong. Since it’s a low budget branding project, my design direction is to create a strong and versatile logo that can be easily applied to many different applications with strong visual identity and also it’s easy for the client to produce homemade products by only stamping and labeling the logo. In order to show the brand's identity - cheerful and casual, I created a dynamic free-hand drawing of a light bulb combining the brand name “La Luz”.

Vismith Production House - Logo Design Vismith is a video production company based in Hong Kong. They specialize in food and interview videos. In this project, they provided very detailed and specific requirements for the logo concept. The concept is about an artisan who is hand-making an object which is video related and the object could also attach to the typeface of the company name. The value of the company is providing high-quality products with the spirit of craftsmanship.

Logo Design - Fusion Urban Event This is a logotype design project in a typography class. Fusion is a music and dance urban event celebrating the urban diverse culture. The identity of the event is as youthful, vibrant and diverse. The concept is fusing the letters together with a sense of dynamic movement and use of vibrant colours to deliver the meaning, message and the mood of the event.

Poster Design - Design Museum: Counterspace Exhibition This is a project for practicing the use of counter-space in a typography class. Since it’s a fictional exhibition, there’s no particular design requirement. This concept is to maximize the use of the counter-spaces of the letters from the word “space”, and just filled the paper by the counter-spaces and played around with it. The colours are inspired by Memphis.

This concept is to treat the counter-spaces as the exhibit items and lines them up on the poster.

Margate, England - Place Branding This is a re-branding project in a branding class. Margate is a coastal town located in South East England. It is famous for its beach, therefore, it is a popular holiday destination in summer in England. The problem Margate is facing is that the town is dead for the rest of the seasons. However, in recent years, there’s an increase of artists and designers moving in to start their business due to the affordable level of the rent. More independent shops, studios, galleries, and music venues are opened in the town. This is a significant change in Margate in recent years. Therefore, my branding direction is to focus on the creative side of the town and promoting the town is more than a summer destination where people can visit in every season. The concept is to brand the town as a gallery. I created a frame as the logo and which emphasizes the scenes of the town. It produces a brand new, cool and young identity for the town to attract young and creative tourists. And the tag line is “Margate, more than just beach.

- Branding and Visual Identity Design Wooka is a start-up contemporary hotel and management company in Huizhou, China, positioning at the market segment of affordable luxury. Their business covers lodging, property management, and event planning. The value of the brand is creating a unique customized experience for the guests and establishing the Wooka Lifestyle to influence people. This project covered a huge range of businesses including hotel, cafe and retail’s visual identity designs. The company’s branding direction is creating a contemporary, luxurious, minimalistic and fashionable lifestyle brand targeting the ladies aged between 25 to 35 with mid to high-income levels. The concept of the visual identity is inspired by the arches from Wooka Hotel’s interior design. The arch could be a window to display the “scene” of Wooka, and could also be a door that symbolizes welcoming into the world of Wooka.

Wedding T-shirts Design for Geoff and Fa A project to design a group of 13 T-shirts for a couples' wedding photoshoot. The clients wanted a unique wedding photoshoot and wanted the whole family members to wear the T-shirts with different graphics for the shoot. The concept for each graphic on the T-shirt inspired by the clients' stories and experiences, so all the graphics represent the journey of their relationship. And also, all were hand-painted in order to produce an artisanal feeling.

Water Bottle Packaging Design - BA Graduate Fashion Show

A water bottle packaging design for my BA graduate fashion show. Since there’s no branding for the fashion show, the creation of the water bottle is very free-minded. The concept firstly inspired by the washing instructions and fabric details on a clothing tag. Then the concept was further developed by "following the washing instruction" and which reminded me of my design motto "break rules". Then "water" and "break rules" reminded me of my favourite quote from Bruce Lee "Be formless, shapeless like water ... Be water, my friend."

Siquidity Invest

- Logo Design (Developing Project) Siquidity is a start-up innovative investment platform based in London. It is a marketplace for various financial products to sell and a platform for investors to buy. The most challenging of this project is that the company wants the logo to be young and innovative as it is a groundbreaking service, as well as trustworthy as it is a financial company. The company’s identity is as innovative, young and trustworthy, and also with the fast and convenient service provided. My design started with the shapes which give the feeling of a “platform and then start experimenting with different lines and shapes that produce the quick and simple feeling with the foundation of trustworthiness. And the right colours will give it an innovative and young spirit. Since the project is still developing, this design is not the final yet.

Peaceful Solution - Window Design (Group Project) This is a project in a visual merchandising course to design the window display for charity shop Peaceful Solution in London. The theme for the window is “treasure hunt” as we see a charity shop as a hidden treasure hub. We wanted to create a joyful and playful mood in the window to attract the young target audiences. Based on the theme, we developed the design concept as “treasure hunting in a pile of boxes”. My tasks: Research (design), mood-boards making, concept development, window design, and window installation Group members: Samahir Wayani: research (trend), concept development, window installation, styling Maggie Dam: research (design), concept development, window design, window installation Emma Bragg: resarch (market), concept development, window installation, styling Monica Raj: resarch (trend), concept development, window installation, product picking Doris JI: resarch (market), concept development, window installation, product picking

Avenir.

- Brand Creation, Branding and Fashion Design A project in my BA Fashion Design course to create a new urban clothing brand and design its spring-summer 2016 collection for the boutique shop Grace & Mabel in Bristol, UK. The branding direction is to create an urban sportswear-inspired womenswear label for the ladies with low to mid-income levels aged between 20 -30 in London. The brand name Avenir means future in French, there’s no particular meaning behind the name but “future” somehow fits the brand’s urban style and our target audiences, and also “avenir” sounds nice in French. The brand identity is an urban, youthful and sportswear-inspired label with a hint of edgy sense.
