Lastly, are these simplistic stools designed by Sori Yanagi. Sori was born in 1915 in Tokyo and attended art school in the city before working for the designer Charlotte Perriand between 1940 and 1942. In 1952 he founded the Yanagi Industrial Design Institute. here’s always a lot of talk amongst my friends around this time of year on the subject of Valentines gifts. I remember being in my teens and thinking how wonderful it was to receive a brown teddy sporting an “I love you” knitted red jumper. But these days I wouldn’t be too overjoyed. That sounds ungrateful I know but, it’s not the thought or the gesture, it’s where I’m going to display it. If you home is haven of interior design and every accessory fitting perfectly with the room theme I’m pretty sure you’ll understand what I’m getting at. The Dream Into the Woods is a unique place. Just 8-mins from the ferry port on the Isle of Wight,

Following the sign saying Treehouse & Hideaway, a winding woodland path runs down to the paddock, emerging onto a cluster of luxurious, inter-connected, wooden Shepherds Huts, looking out onto an open terrace with a stunning Treehouse rising beyond that. ‘Into the Woods’ owners Will and Fiona Headington built the luxury treehouse, which proved so popular with guests, it spurred them to create something equally unique. Inspired by a seminal Christmas
eve of mulled wine in Will’s mother’s renovated Shepherd Hut, Will woke on Christmas morning with a burning idea - ‘I know! Let’s not have one Shepherds Hut, let’s create a whole group, each a different room.’
The Mission Blackdown’s task was to produce a self-build, Shepherd Hut hideaway cluster with interconnected living and kitchen hut, surrounding a central decking area. The luxury, mod-
con enabled Shepherd Hideaway ideal for families, couples, or 2 couples, combines countryside charm in a luxury year-round living space. It sleeps 6 plus baby or toddler. Sitting securely on wrought iron wheels and built by skilled Somerset craftsmen, Blackdown Shepherd huts can be transformed into everything from writers’ retreats to shooting lodges, gastro-food huts, even Isle of Wight luxury holiday homes.
Taking Shape The Blackdown self-build Shepherd’s hut cluster was designed and ordered in January 2013, delivered in April, giving the ‘Into The Woods’ owners three spring months to build and
finish their Shepherd’s Hideaway. With summer holiday bookings flourishing, The Hideaway was finished at 3pm on July 29th, with the first guests arriving at 6pm delighted honeymooners who had a fabulous time. ‘Into The Woods’ assembled the huts themselves, having been down to Somerset to see the Blackdown team building them. The self-build went
smoothly, was straightforward to do and made easy by the step-by-step Blackdown video guide. Planning permission was equally easy to arrange. ‘Into The Woods’ already had commercialuse permission for another Treehouse on the Shepherd’s Hut spot, which quickly was adjusted and approved by Isle of Wight planners. The Accommodation The Living room is two beautiful Shepherds Huts joined together to provide a kitchen and living area, heated by a wood-burning stove. It has two comfy sofa areas, with French doors leading out onto a sunny decking area for al fresco eating and relaxing. The master bedroom comprises one spacious 16ft wood clad Shepherds Hut with comfy double bed, excitingly raised up, with plenty of space for either luggage or a toddler bed underneath; and space for a cot. There is a proper ensuite bathroom at one end, with shower, loo and washbasin and lovely views into the trees. It is all fully heated and extremely cosy.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and has a dining table with wraparound benches. Guests can cook on and in the quaint little woodburning stove. ‘Into the Woods’ also provide a gas hob, and microwave to speed things up as/when needed. The bunk room is another beautiful wooden 16ft Shepherds Hut. Extremely flexible, it can either
provide sleeping space for up to 4 kids or adults - with 2 full size single bunks, plus 2 slightly narrower single bunks. There is also a proper ensuite bathroom at one end, with shower, loo and washbasin and lovely views into the trees. Guests would never know, but the loos actually route off to a clever composting system outside, but look and function like a normal loo inside.
