Port Grimaud was designed in the early 1960s by the distinguished French architect Francois Spoerry, who created an elaborate system of canals and islands, much like Venice, but on a smaller scale. Renowned for its multi-hued houses covered with Roman tiles, contemporary Port Grimaud is easy to walk, especially since cars are restricted. The scenery and atmosphere change dramatically at your next stop - the village of Grimaud, which is nestled in the heart of the Maures Mountains and maintains a uniquely medieval character. Admire the superbly renovated old houses. Explore the winding alleyways, which are enlivened by local craftsmen, and stop at the remarkable fountain in the center of the village. In many areas, it's as if time has stood still. Please note: The sites on this tour are not wheelchair accessible. Order of sights visited may vary and the itinerary may be reversed. OPTIONAL SHORE EXCURSIONS AML-006 FOOD & WINE TRAILS - AMALFI'S WINES, HISTORY & LIMONCELLO Duration: 6.50 Hrs Tour Price: $299 Date: May 20, 2012 1:00PM Oceania Cruises is proud to partner with FOOD & WINE TRAILS, American's foremost culinary travel company, in the offering of this tour. F&WT tours are always kept intimate and visit sites not typically offered by mainstream travel suppliers. Their tours are always led by a knowledgeable, English-speaking sommelier, wine or food expert, cooking instructor or chef, who enjoys introducing visitors to some of the best and most authentic food and wine of their region.

Homer's epic poem "Odysseus" depicts a sinuous and seductive section of Italy's coastline as the mythical land of the Sirens. Today, this area is known to the world as the Amalfi Coast. The village of Amalfi is perhaps the coastline's most beautiful town, but the curvy coastline makes driving (and touring) somewhat of a challenge. This is why we are glad that our local experts have put together a wine tour that visits some wonderful and nearby historical sites and food venues.

The group will leave Amalfi in the morning and drive the short distance down the coast to Minori to visit an ancient Roman maritime villa of the 1st century A.D. This is a splendid example of Roman construction, discovered in 1932 and it still retains traces of its ancient water heating system and some mosaics. Then it's a short walk to a local Limoncello producer (who still makes this liqueur by hand) to see the process and taste the delicious results. Driving a short distance from the coast is the village of Tramonti. Here you will visit a small family-run winery, known for producing fine wines from heritage vines, some of which are more than 100 years old. After a short walk through their vineyards you will be welcomed for a multi-course lunch inside the "Osteria" (a traditional restaurant) belonging to this winemaking family. Here the women of the family will let you try authentic Tramonti recipes and products served with two different varietals of wines.

After lunch you will return to Amalfi with some free time for you to explore the city streets and shop on your own, before its time to re-board the ship. Please note: This tour includes approximately 2-hours of easy to moderate walking; however, there is a steep incline to negotiate at the entrance to the winery and uneven surfaces to negotiate. The tour is not available to wheelchair guests and is not considered suitable for those with mobility concerns. Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing; sun cap; sunglasses and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.

SORRENTO/CAPRI, ITALY SRT-001 A CRUISE TO CAPRI Duration: 8.00 Hrs Tour Price: $149 Date: May 21, 2012 8:00AM A short, but scenic cruise on a jetfoil across the Bay of Naples, followed by motorcoach ride, brings you to the lovely hilltop village of Anacapri on the chic Isle of Capri. Here, you may choose to ride a chairlift up to Monte Solaro for a breathtaking view of the bay. As an alternative, you may join the guide for a tour of the famed Villa San Michele. This wonderful old house, surrounded by fragrant gardens, belonged to the Swedish doctor and author, Axel Munthe, who wrote a popular book about its history. The existing home was built on the ruins of a Roman emperor's villa. Now a museum, Villa San Michele is filled with collections of paintings, furniture and ancient Roman artifacts. During your free time at Anacapri, you might stroll the piazzetta, shop, or enjoy lunch. At the end of your tour take the famous funicular from La Piazzetta, the main square of Capri, to the pier landing area. Then, rejoin your mini-bus and travel to the Marina Grande where you will board a hydrofoil for the return to Sorrento. Please note: During high season, Capri can be extremely crowded, and long lines are common and unavoidable. Long lines can also be expected at the hydrofoil and mini-bus stations. Guests are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes for this excursion which involves walking over uneven surfaces and climbing stairs. This tour is not considered suitable for wheelchair guests or those with mobility concerns. A visit to the Blue Grotto is not included in this tour.

Time seems frozen, as you observe the eerie plaster casts of numerous victims, who are caught in their final moment of life. Now a World Heritage Site, Pompeii is filled with aristocratic villas, temples and a forum, which was the heart of the city. Sorrento's cliff-side setting affords fabulous views across the Bay of Naples, and more breathtaking sights lie ahead, as you proceed along a scenic coastline, dotted with olive groves and fragrant lemon and orange trees. With each twist and turn of the road, you will be treated to a new and awe-inspiring view of the Italian Riviera. In the Bay of Salerno, you will see three small rocky islands called Li Galli, which were said to be the mythical home of the Sirens. SRT-007 THE PIAZZAS AND PIZZA OF NAPLES Duration: 7.00 Hrs Tour Price: $199 Date: May 21, 2012 8:10AM This charming tour is packed with an orientation of some of Naples' most enchanting sites as well as a demonstration of traditional pizza making. Tendering to shore, you'll meet your motor coach and head off on an informative tour of the city which will introduce you to its monuments, important buildings, museums, shopping areas and main squares. Your tour will be complimented by the comprehensive narration provided by your professional guide, sharing Naples' historical background and the reasons why so many visitors fall in love with the city. Free time will be allotted to further explore the Piazza and browse the shops before it's time to re-join your coach and proceed onward. Neapolitan pizza is still widely regarded as the best pizza in the world, probably because of the fresh ingredients available to Neapolitan pizzerias, such as herbs, garlic, fresh mozzarella and tomatoes grown in the rich volcanic ash of Vesuvius. Today, you'll have a fantastic opportunity to experience this first-hand as you are treated to a demonstration by expert Pizzaioli (pizza makers) as they assemble entire pizzas on a marble counter right before your eyes. Amazingly, the world's first true pizzeria, Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba, was opened here in 1830 and is still in business today. Contemporary Neapolitan pizzas continue to be prepared the same way they were 100 years ago. The first Margherita pizza was introduced here as well by Raffaele Esposito of the Pizzeria di Pietro e Basta Cosi, now called Pizzeria Brandi, when he baked pizza especially for visiting King Umberto I and Queen Margherita. Wanting to make the pizza more patriotic-looking, Raffaele used red tomato sauce, white mozzarella cheese and green basil leaves as toppings. Queen Margherita fell in love with Raffaele's special pizza and thus, Pizza Margherita was born, becoming an international standard. After your pizza-making demonstration, you'll have the added treat of being able to feast on the pizza before it's time to be transferred back to the pier. Please note: This tour is not available to wheelchair guests and while walking/standing is generally at the guest's discretion, those guests with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability and stamina. Lightweight clothing, caps and flat, comfortable walking shoes are suggested.
