“I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.” - Albert Einstein. Such words captivate the impact of wars on the state of the world as well as its humanity. World Wars as we know throughout history, has brought with it nothing but pain and misery. 70 years down the road since World War 2, a new sense of Peace has been established but nonetheless, War still persists in several countries around the world in various scales either for resources, territories, religous conflicts & etc. The misfortunate victims are forced to adapt to a difficult psychological state of mind and living conditions during a disturbance of war conflict in their vicinity. Thus, this drills the “refugee” to escape their ground to find a safe zone to survive and protect themselves from desolation; an act of Exodus.

PHASE I | Data Apart from devastating accounts of deaths from a war, the remnants of war machines, vehicles, bunkers and other similar war typologies are left behind as what now people call as “memories”. 22 War Tank Graveyards around the world are abandoned and with ongoing freedom crisis in the Middle East, Kabul - Afghanistan with the biggest war tank graveyard proved to be a site for exploration for the Design Thesis in attempting to develop an adaptation of war remnants in active war zones for civilians. *afghanistan’s history/stats and world tank graveyards

PHASE II | Radical Retrofit Understanding the war tank ergonomics and scale, a more complex configuration was considered as it provoked the idea of a tank city. Early research focuses on multiple experiments in the possibilities of retrofitting broken war tank components to fabricate a militant form of living, presumably for the victims of conflict. A series of provocative posters were also produced to debate the cultural and social aspects that would influence the lives of the victims. *experiments on retrofit war tank modules

PHASE III | Cultural Reflection In this phase, a cultural revival was considered for the victims in Kabul as they had lost they’re freedom to practice their daily regime. The image on the left invoked the basic need for an individual to survive off the post-war remnants. On top of that, a religious plaza and a community caravanserai was proposed on the graveyard site as to relive the lost practices amongst the community living in the vicinity. *experimental 3dprinted models

PHASE IV | Forensic Dismantling A detailed exploration on the possibilities of dismantling and reassembly of war tank components into a make-shift prototype to support the locals were considered. The site visit to the tank dismantling factory in Berlin informed the potential in reusing these components into building construction. Understandably, with limited materials and facilities in Kabul, the vast amount of vehicles and war remnants would be an alternative to be reconfigured into a retrofit homage for the locals. *exploded isometric of war machineries

PHASE V | Forensic Reassembly A set of manual for the retrofitting of war machine components into a shelter was produced as a document of research. Alongside local materials such as timber and standard fixings, a basic shelter can be built with a minimal cost as it’s mostly dependent on scrap machines, and would also be able to withstand seismic activity while it encourages the community to build it themselves and eventually to continue building as to how they prefer their shelter should fit for their needs. *exposed isometric of proposed homage of war components

This is a public bathhouse designed to serve the community at the west end of Glasgow. Being situated near the University of Glasgow and the River Kelvin made it ideal for visitors of the park to use its facilities. The bathhouse itself was designed based upon the Scottish original But & Ben Architecture style alongside bothy structures to develop lowtech and self-initiated spaces for the people to endure and to be more proactive. Initially the bathhouse served as a mini sports arena with an olympic size pool for individuals who wishes to practice lap time. Later, a series of technical studies were carried out to propose a retractable floating sauna adjacent to the river kelvin to provide a different experience of relaxation in the bathhouse. In addition to that, mini bothy’s along the river were introduced to co-exist with its neighbouring amenity and to serve the immediate group of people that visits the various different corners of the collosal park. *masterplan of bothy designs across Kelvingrove Park

This is a hospice designed for the benefit of teenagers at Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow City. Ignited by a spark of inspiration of the running water on site, brought an idea to approach the design in a more spiritual and nature healing procedure. Water being a natural source of remedy for human health was further explored in its various potential forms via the 5 senses. While accommodating patients in the Hospice, it also provides opportunity for them to engage with the public; notably the students from Glasgow University in various workshop programs. The Hospice generally in its form, speaks of its identity it takes up on site with a bold character to instill Confidence, Faith & Hope for the Visitors. Thus, the Hospice was named as “Elixir� (Remedy) for the human beings within this Interstellar space whom are living their lives and till death do them apart. *conceptual design appreciating death under the night sky

This college is designed to remedy the identity & image of Chow Kit District. People tend to judge Chow Kit as a Black Labelled Area where illegal activities take place, thus discourages any interactions on site. With the strategic location at the border of the district provides the opportunity to change people’s perception by showcasing the true educational image of the school to the public. It’s purely permeable & porous both visually and physically to allow the students to dissipate & to integrate the college programmes with the public. The school provides a stepping platform for the community of Chow Kit to engange themselves into a learning environment. Four different courses which are, Hotel Management, Bakery & Fashion Design are the main focus for the students of the school. A community library located at the main entrance help improve the street image & multiple roof garden terraces were implemented to allow more outdoor activities for the students. *urban model of Chow Kit

The heart of the city centre proves to be one of the most hectic locations around Kuala Lumpur. Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman neighbors the Merdeka Square and is flanked by pre-war buildings whose distinctive facades are preserved and re-adapted to accommodate modern retailing businesses. This Art Gallery was dedicated to one of Malaysia’s resident artist/ sculptor, Suhaimi. His artwork composition & his ability to highlight the underlying structure in his sculpture were the approach to form a gallery identity of his own. He, as a new upcoming artist needs to be exposed to the public. The direct approach in achieving this is to give maximum exposure for people from their own means of mobility around the urban site. With a multi-level exposed surface going underground helps to draw peoples attention towards the art gallery. As the gallery addresses his artworks towards the public eye, people will benefit by viewing his artworks from the busy streets itself. *conceptual section studies

A moonsighting observatory was proposed on the hills of Jugra for the purpose of astronomical and religious studies of the Moon. The sky viewed from the peak here is clear and is without any obstructions and we carried out several site, contour and landscape analysis as a group before commencing the design of the Observatory. The idea was to cater the community and programme by representing the moon visually & emotionally within the building along the axis of the moon. By understanding the moon propagation axis, the roof was designed with close attention to ensure the moon will be reflected upon a linear reflective pool inside the building 365 days a year. This made the moon seemed as if to “walk on water� enhancing the spiritual closure for the users of the pavillion.

A 16 & 14 Twin Tower Accommodation designed to cater a high end class of residence in the ever popular site at Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur. This project was handed over to repair the schematic design drawings alongside submission drawings for the local authority. A specific set of facade design was necessary and I had been in the core of the discussion with various consultants and the client itself. The task was to design a modular green facade system which is portable for the users to replace into several other functions from time to time. A general concept of sustainabality and green design was explored to amplify the essence of this high rise design for the client.

Construction phase
This project was handled from the very start when the client agreed to nominate us as the lead architect designer. I was made responsible from the initial concept sketches to the final stages of the schematic design. The family pavilion was designed based on a simple East-West Axis which divides the entrance and the hidden heaven of a space on site. With a blend of Chinese Traditional Architectural Motifs, this pavilion consists of a Koi Pond for evening Tea and/or BBQ Sessions for the family. A conection with the neighbouring Bungalow is made from the Guest Room level for the ease of access by the family members.

“Colaborative Learning Area (CoLA) was an interior design project handled by a consulting design firm from University of Malaya. The task at hand was to revamp an entire floor of the Main Library in University of Malaya to bring out a new atmosphere for the students usage whilst the project was apprehanding crucial preservations of the old building. Most of the furniture was from back in the 50’s which had to be replaced with a modern outlook and the project were’d to incorporate four different concepts which are:Modern Interior - Modern Colour & furniture User Interaction - Multiple seating arrangement & new reading gallery Natural Lights - Enlarge existing windows and allow more views in & out Increased Capacity - Encourage students to spend time in the library *working drawing & completed interior view

Mobileland was an elective course in Year 4 where a group of architectural enthusiast and social activists embarked on redeveloping a vacant land in Southside Glasgow transforming it into a community hub. Series of projects were undertaken and one of the earlier project, an old container was craned to the site, painted black and fitted with a set of interior furnishing. This then became the operating office of Mobileland that hosts weekly activities for families and the public in the vicinity. *on-site refurbishment activities

Political, Economical, Social and many more aspects were studied and were represented weekly in a series of concept models, paintings and ilustrations to debate the provocations of key notions in films from the 1920’s until the current era.
