By using a registered builder, you can be assured your builder complies with the following: • Provides each customer with the contract that is fair and equitable to both parties. • Provides a one-year limited warranty as a professional builder. • Their primary occupation is in the building or related contracting industry and has been for at least two years.

• Has subjected oneself to peer review in order to obtain the designation. • Each registered builder must submit favorable references from previous customers, suppliers and at least one financial institution. • Have a registered builder sponsor with personal knowledge of the applicant’s construction activity and business integrity. • Must appear before the registered builder committee for an interview. • Must agree to participate in a minimum of six hours of annual continuing education. Two of these hours must be completed in safety training for the construction industry. • Must agree to a code of ethics indicating compliance with minimum standard requirements. • Must present proof of Kentucky Worker’s Compensation insurance and a minimum of $250,000 in liability insurance upon application for the professional designation. • Must agree to a conciliation process and/or binding arbitration in the event of an unresolved complaint from a customer. • Must be a member in good standing with the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky.
