THE CONCEPT DEVELOPEMENT The idea was to create a responsive building. One which reponds mainly to sunlight, and to the terrain difference.
The site spans between a level difference of 7meters to the lake. This plays a huge role in the building form.
By integrating the level changes into the building form itself, it creates a dynamic play of forms form one level to the other. This lead to the creation of various spaces which were then used as part of the building form.
P O R T F O L I O / 0 1 / 48
THE BUILDING FORM The building form was gotten from the concept of plant growth and photosynthesis. The idea being that the building grows toward the direction of sunlight.
Showing how plants normally grow towards sunlight, the same concept is applied to the building creating an organic form which also grows towards the sun direction. Applying the same level changes from the building elevation design, the building form is created.

PROCESS The concept was to create a modern stand that uses simple forms and implements the university’s colours; white, red and grey. A focal point was created using the dominant color(red). Total area 10x6m (60sqm). With two sides blocked off with walls.
The idea was to create a calm environment without being too lavish. By creating a compacted space, the stand becomes a semi-closed space with uptimum use. The openings are placed in a way that encourages free flow of air throughout the stand. The play of colours also serve specific roles. The red serves as a vidual guide leading through the main focal points, the white offsets the red and makes it stand out, while the grey throws the red into a sharp relief.

THE JOURNEY The stands directs people through a deliberate path designed. This path makes the stand legible by visitors.
THE START The journey starts from the reception and leads throughout the waiting area and exits through the lounge. THE INTERMEDIATE The meeting area is located behind the reception and is closed off with a glass wall to create an illusion of connection. The meeting area has 3 stations. Due to the closed-off illusion designed, the walls have special lighting to illuminate the space. THE FINISH It exits throught the lounge, which has 4 couches opposite the waiting area with 3seats.
