What are your thoughts about HBK’s Mentorship Program?
I’ve been very satisfied with the individuals I’ve worked with so far and their success in obtaining credentials and transitioning into different areas of HBK that align more closely with their career goals.
How do you believe mentorship contributes to personal and professional growth?
Public accounting is a field that no college program can fully prepare you for. Having someone with firsthand experience who understands the complexities of the industry creates a strong bond of trust. A leader you can rely on to share your goals, concerns, and challenges—whether related to your career, certifications, or personal life—is essential for growth.
What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone starting a mentorship relationship?
Be clear about what you want to gain from your mentor to support your personal and professional growth. Additionally, be your own advocate. Not every mentorship match will be the right fit, and that’s perfectly fine. You don’t have to remain in a mentoring relationship that isn’t working for you.
If you had a choice of being mentored by anyone in the world, who would it be and why?
I would be thrilled to be mentored by Neil DeGrasse Tyson, as I find his mind fascinating. His exceptional critical thinking skills and ability to approach every problem with common sense rather than emotion are qualities I deeply admire.
