BENEFITS OF USING DEFROST ON DEMAND HBDF-MK2 - DEFROST
PRODUCED BY HB PRODUCTS
HBDF-MK2 AT AB-CATERING, HINNERUP, DENMARK.
For years defrost cycles at AB-Catering have caused serious issues and have required adjustments regularly and as a minimum every spring and autumn. Adjustments of defrost timer periods have been based on the evaporator furthest away from the compressor room to ensure complete defrost at every single evaporator in the room. The downside of this philosophy has been that the evaporator located nearest the compressor room has been defrosting for a too long period causing condensation at the adjacent ceiling to drip down on the floor, and the conveyor belt where it freezes to ice blocks. AB-Catering wanted to solve these issues and contacted ICS, a Danish-based contractor specializing in Ammonia refrigeration systems. ICS has for years been using numerous solutions from HB Products and saw this case as ideal to install the new defrost-on-demand technology from HB Products.

capacitance changes as the frost layer are built up on the fins. The sensor can be installed both on new and existing evaporators. The sensor can be set up using the HB-Tool software by using the special USB cable and you are ready to go in minutes. After some time in use, you can easily fine-tune the settings and thus get the full benefit from the advanced Defrost on Demand sensor from HB Products. HB Products offers similar versions for Heat Pump applications as well as a special version for cold store applications running just above the freezing point.
