This portfolio is a summary of my work while pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Interior Design at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, a CIDA accredited program. Interior Design has always been my passion in life. Knowing how large an impact your designs can have on people is something that has intrigued me. After receiving a small taste of the profession this past summer, I’m eager to collaborate with other professionals and see my designs come to life.

NERDS R US 4.2019
At the beginning of the project, I was randomly given the company name, Nerds R Us, and the color, Jarcanda Blue, to develop a brand for the company and design their headquarters. Nerds R Us sells office supplies in stores across the country. Founded in Washington, the company values innovation, reliability, and passion from their employees and in their products. The headquarters is designed for forty employees and within the space, each employee is provided their own individual work space. In addition, there are a variety of collaborative spaces and a lounge area. The headquarters offers a space where employees can work together to design and prototype new products for Nerds R Us stores. When guests enter, they are immediately welcomed by a display space where signature products are shown within acrylic cubes that are inspired by the Rubix Cube.

The curvature of its walls is meant to make the user curious about what is held within the space. There they will discover books and items being preserved by and about Nebraska authors. Going further into the space, the user will discover the Polley Music Library where they are given access to books on musicians, musical books, and access to technology. This includes a recording studio full of instruments that will allow users to create their own music.

UNL STADIUM 3.2019
devaney era club Design teams were assigned and asked to redesign an area of the suite levels in Memorial Stadium at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. My team was assigned to the Devaney Era Club on the west side of the stadium, traditionally the older suite owners. As the space is currently being underutilized, our goal is to bring owners outside of their suites to engage with the community and enhance the experience of game day. Based on its name, the space reflects the story of Bob Devaney’s history with the Huskers. In the space, limited “Husker Red” is seen with the intent that the users will bring a new level of red into the space. By placing the permanent items of the design on the perimeter of the room, it allows for the flexibility of using the space for other purposes. My team members and I would spend class time collaborating on the design of the space and one member would create it in Revit. From there, she would export documents for us to update outside of Revit. My work included the circulation diagrams and sections. Others worked on the floor plans and renders.

The objective of this project was to redesign the “link” of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln’s Architecture Hall. The design is defined by two enclosure systems. The first system uses a structural grid placed along the circulation path to display student work while guiding users through the space. By doing this, the grid enclosure informs people of the environment and processes that occur in Architecture Hall. The second enclosure system contains the user in primary and secondary spaces. The nature of the enclosure is private with apertures that give a variety of framed views into the group spaces. Located in the center, the apertures of the primary space are specifically placed to create a unique experience and allow those walking through to see users interacting with the space. The secondary space connects to the first grid enclosure system to contain users by creating a ceiling plane that is carried down the wall and translated into seating.
