California The San Diego Foundation has appointed Katie Rast as its new director of community impact. In that role, Rast will be responsible for forming strategic collaborations with other funders and partners, including corporations, individuals, and family philanthropists, and will work to establish communitybased partnerships with government and other nonprofit organizations. The Community Foundation Santa Cruz County in Aptos has announced the appointment of TonĂŠe Picard, Kirk Schmidt, Liliana Diaz, and Judy Franich to its board of directors. Colorado The Community Foundation Boulder County has announced a hundred and thirty grants totaling $332,935 in support of health and human services, arts and culture, children and youth, education, civic engagement, and animals and the environment. Recipients include the Boulder County AIDS Project, El Centro AMISTAD, the Women's Wilderness Institute, and the Boulder Emergency Squad. Hawai'i The Hawai'i Community Foundation in Honolulu has announced that Katharine Lloyd has rejoined the organization as vice president of development and donor relations. Since 2013, Lloyd has served as deputy general counsel at Hawai'i Pacific University following an eleven-year tenure at HCF as general counsel and vice president of operations. Massachusetts The Cape Cod Foundation has appointed Kristin O'Malley as its new president and CEO. O'Malley has worked for the foundation since 2004, including the past four years as executive director. North Carolina The Charlotte-based Foundation for the Carolinas has announced the launch of the 2017 Longleaf Fund grant cycle. Capital grants ranging from $10,000 to $150,000 will be awarded in support of organizations serving at-risk children and youth for projects that enhance accessible, age-appropriate space for play, sports, and recreational activities; promote learning, with a particular emphasis on creating or improving access to technology; and that enhance the quality of life for children and youth with disabilities by improving their educational and physical environment and developing their physical capabilities. The Cleveland Foundation has announced two grants totaling $450,000 in support of efforts to build to a strong, equitable, and resilient digital community in Northeast Ohio. Through its new Digital Excellence Initiative, the foundation awarded $200,000 to Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland State University to establish an Internet of Things collaborative and $250,000 to DigitalC in support of its ReStart program, which will provide in-demand digital literacy skills to the city’s underemployed residents. The Women's Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation has announced that longtime local and national television reporter Betsy Ross will interview Abby Wambach, the retired two-time Olympic gold medalist and co-captain of the 2015 FIFA World Cup title-winning U.S. Women’s Soccer team, live at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center on March 25. An Emmy-award winning reporter, Ross is president and founder of Game Day Communications in Cincinnati. South Carolina The Community Foundation of the Lowcountry in Hilton Head has announced three disaster recovery and rebuilding grants to organizations working with individuals affected by Hurricane Matthew, boosting the total awarded in three series of grants since October 11 to $127,720. The latest recipients are St. Stephen's Outreach Food Bank ($1,200), Lowcountry Food Bank ($19,020), and Hilton Head Island Recreation Association ($7,500).
