Hawaii nonprofit professionals gathered Friday morning to discuss the industry at PBN's 2015 Nonprofit roundtable at the Plaza Club. The panel included experts from both the private, public, and nonprofit sector: Bank of Hawaii President and CEO Peter Ho, state Tax & Charities Division Supervising Deputy Attorney General Hugh Jones, Hawaii Alliance of Nonprofit Organizations President and CEO Lisa Maruyama, Goodwill Industries of Hawaii Inc. President and CEO Laura Smith, and Hawaii Community Foundation President and CEO Kelvin Taketa. Click on the photo for a slideshow. Panelists discussed the hurdles nonprofits face and trends found in the giving community. Taketa emphasized the importance of effectiveness and quality, rather than quantity of an organization. “There’s a move to show your impact and results,” he said. “You have to demonstrate what your program dollars are going to — it’s not a trend. That’s here to stay.” Check PBN's print edition for full coverage of the event.
