Enterprise still helping with disaster relief

LIHUE — Hale Halawai Ohana O Hanalei has been working on a month-long project performing time-sensitive environmental cleanup, data collection, and case management on behalf of the Kauai community affected by the flooding from record-breaking rains.

The bulk of the work has been funded through the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Kauai Relief and Recovery Fund grant. Last week, Hale Hanalei Ohana O Hanalei’s effort were bolstered by a $5,000 donation from the Enterprise Holdings foundation.

Kati Conant said the group has been removing the equivalent of 36 commercial dump trucks, primarily from the Wainiha area waterways.

Case management workers have supported more than 500 families and farmers affected by the disaster.

Shannon Maxwell, Enterprise Kauai manager, said since the disaster took place in April, the grant Hale Halawai is the third Enterprise Holdings has made toward disaster relief and recovery.

The process started with a $5,000 donation on behalf of the Kauai Enterprise employees to the American Red Cross to assist in the Kauai relief efforts.

Enterprise operates Alamo Rent-A-Car, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Rent-A-Car.
