Nonprofit toolkit: How to leverage HCF’s statewide #GIVINGTUESDAYHI campaign into gifts for your nonprofit Nonprofits can create CHANGE for Hawai‘i this #GIVINGTUESDAYHI Giving Tuesday is a global movement established to encourage and engage millions of people to support the causes they believe in. Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, a time when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. #GIVINGTUESDAYHI is how the Hawai‘i Community Foundation, Hawai‘i ‘s corporations, community leaders, media partners, and nonprofits work together to maximize the impact of Giving Tuesday and inspire charitable gifts that will strengthen our nonprofits and communities. This year, Giving Tuesday takes place on December 3, and is centered around the CHANGE movement that works to drive collective action around shared goals based on a common set of data. A critical part of the CHANGE movement—like #GivingTuesdayHI-- is encouraging every person to take actions to care for their community, island, and state through a gift of time, talent, or treasure. The main call to action this #GIVINGTUESDAYHI is for everyone to visit CHANGEforHawaii.org to give time, treasure or talent to their favorite nonprofits. Those who visit this page can click a link to: •

Give Treasure. This link will drive all traffic to the simple and free giving platform that is open for all Hawai‘i nonprofits to use, called GiveBigHawaii.com. The platform is provided by HCF and HONOLULU Magazine. The Give Big Hawai‘i platform allows nonprofits to create their own pages so that friends and fans can search and easily donate to their favorite charities. The platform has launched for nonprofits and registration will close on 11/15. Giving will start on Giving Tuesday and end on Dec. 8.

Give Time. Encourage individuals to volunteer for your nonprofit. Individuals who share a photo of themselves volunteering on social media using #CHANGEforHawaii are eligible to give a $1,000 grant to charity of their choice in December and January.

Give Talent. Through a partnership with Catchafire, community members can lend their professional skills to nonprofits who are in need of services. Nonprofits who wish to leverage #GIVINGTUESDAYHI might consider uploading projects on Catchafire now, so that volunteers can reach out on Giving Tuesday.
