The ITB is one of the world’s most important fairs in the tourism and travel industry, presenting all the new developments and trends in the sector. Also, it is the business platform for the global tourist offer, where countries, regions, global cities, hotels and many other providers present their products and services.
It is taking place at the Messe Berlin exhibition ground, which has 160 thousand square metres for exhibits, where the participation of 10 thousand exhibitors from 190 countries is expected, and 170 thousand visitors. Countries, cities and regions, tour operators, online booking portals and hotels, and many other services from 190 participating countries. The slogan “Experience & Experts” summarises the capacities of one of the world’s most important tourist fairs, with professionals from all over the world interacting.
The German market is one of the most important source markets for Spanish tourism, with Spain the leading international destination for them. German tourists mainly travel for leisure (86%) and stay in hotels (54%). The profile of German tourist is people with higher education (75%), middle class (62%) and aged between 45 and 64 (42%), with the average age of 45. Most travel with their partner (40%), followed by family trips (26%). The main travel reasons are sun and sea (76%), visiting cities (65%) and shopping (55%). Non-organised trips without tourism packages take predominate (64%)
