Entrevista a Guilermo ‘Sapo’ Caset - San Luis Polo años”

Un placer saludarte ‘Sapo’ y tenerte de nuevo en nuestras páginas y en Sotogrande. Enhorabuena por ese pase de la Final de la Copa de Plata. Gracias, con calor pero muy bien [ríe]. Fue duro y complicado, como siempre en Sotogrande pero tenemos un gran equipo [San Luis], hemos podido competir bien y como siempre con muchas ganas de levantar una copa en Sotogrande.

¿Cómo crees que se ha organizado la temporada este año en Sotogrande?

De los últimos, sin duda, puede que estemos ante una de las temporadas más fuertes en Sotogrande. Hay enormes equipos, cualquiera te puede ganar en un momento dado, sólo hace falta ver algunos de los últimos encuentros que la mayoría se han decidido en el último chukker o por un gol en la última jugada. Se ve que no existen grandes dife- rencias y hay un nivel de juego muy parejo. Hay muchos candidatos para los trofeos y casi todos los partidos son una final. Está muy interesante.

¿Cómo estáis compitiendo con San Luis?

El equipo viene lanzado, estamos disputando muy bien cada uno de los partidos, hemos ganado los tres que hemos jugado hasta ahora y pasándola bien, ya saben. Toca festejar el pase a la final pero sólo un poco [ríe] y ponerse desde ya a trabajar para esta Gran Final de la Copa de Plata

¿Un plantel de mucho nombre esta temporada en Sotogrande?

Así te decía, venimos desde hace tres temporadas con el mismo equipo y la temporada cada vez crece más y más; no se puede decir otra cosa porque es la realidad. Sube el número de equipos, mejoran las organizaciones y el plantel de jugadores es magnífico. Este año se puso muy duro y competitivo, con los mejores jugadores del mundo. Es un lujo

¿Y el regreso de los 22 goles al Alto?

Magnífico pero un poco enmascarado porque el nivel es muchísimo más alto. Hay jugadores que tienen HCP superior en otros lugares y eso hace que aún se más exigente y competitivo los equipos. Más que 22, te diría que estamos jugando un polo de 24/26 goles como mínimo.

Thanks, it’s hot but everything is good (laughs). It was tough and difficult, as always in Sotogrande we have a great team (San Luis), we were able to compete well and as always we are really eager to lift a cup in Sotogrande.

How do you think the season has been organised this year in Sotogrande?

Of recent years, undoubtedly, it may be one of the strongest seasons in Sotogrande. There are amazing teams, any one of them can beat you at some point, you simply have to look at some of the last games, where most were decided in the last chukker or by a goal in the last play. It is apparent that there are no big differences and the level of play is very close. There are lots of candidates for the trophies and almost all the matches are a final. It is really interesting.

How are you competing with San Luis?

The team is going in strong, we are competing very well in each of the matches, we have won the three we have played thus far and, you know, while having a great time. It is time to celebrate making it to the final, but only a little (laughs) and to get working now ahead of the Grand Finale of the Silver Cup.

Is there a very renowned line-up this season in Sotogrande?

It is what I was saying, for three seasons we have come with the same team and the season is growing more and more; you can’t say otherwise because it is the reality. The number of teams is increasing, the organisations are improving and the line-up of players is magnificent. This year is very tough and competitive, with the world’s best players. It is a luxury

What about the return of 22 goals to the High category? Magnificent but a little disguised because the level is much higher. There are players who have a higher HCP in other places and that makes the teams even more demanding and competitive. More than 22, I would say we are playing 24/26 goal polo as a minimum.
