On Monday, you can book excursions for Thursday at a local organiser of excursions at the information desk. Do you want to undertake something on your own? General information & history HISTORY Ibiza emerged above sea level about eight million years ago, formed by magma (molten rock) from deep inside the earth. Multiple peoples lived on the island since then, and contributed to the way the island looks like today. Ibiza is a part of the Spanish kingdom since the 15th century. Back then, the island was constantly plagued by pirates. It became an important trading location in the Mediterranean Sea for salt, fish, oil, and ceramics. In the 70s, the island was discovered by ‘sunseekers’. The island became famous for its so-called ‘hippie movement’, and housed many artists and hippies. People came together to dance, sing, eat and smoke weed. Ibiza was already the place to be back then! The hippies turned the island into an alternative cultural paradise. It became a spiritual island, and is also called the island of change. There island has a very relaxed atmosphere. Today, the island and its capital Ibiza Town are particularly popular among party animals and sunseekers. Ibiza is currently known as the best party island of Europe, with its many parties and its thrilling nightlife.
4
THE ISLAND EIVISSA Ibiza, Mallorca, Menorca and Formentera form the Balearic Islands. This archipelago is located to the east of Valencia in the Mediterranean Sea. Ibiza is 41 km long and 20 km wide, and has a total surface area of 575 km2, making it a bit bigger than Texel.
BEACH RESORT Playa d’En Bossa is located only 5 km west of Ibiza Town, and is just as close to Ibiza’s airport. The beach of Playa d’En Bossa is the longest on the island. On and along the beach you can find all sorts of entertainment, restaurants, clubs, and water sport facilities. Beach club Bora-Bora is the place to be during the day, while the Space sets the scene for Ibiza’s nightlife. 5
Practical information TRANSPORTATION Cabs on Ibiza are cheaper than in the Netherlands. They are widely used and are often faster than the bus. Generally, all locations can be reached by bus, but you would have to transfer multiple times. You can also rent a bicycle or moped on the island.
RESTAURANTS Your stay is all-inclusive. If you however decide to eat somewhere else, there are numerous different restaurants of all prices. From Indian to Mexican and Spanish; the island has restaurants with excellently priced menus.
BEACHCLUBS Ibiza is home to numerous beach clubs. You can enjoy a drink and a snack here while tanning. Nassau Beach Club and Sands Ibiza are located close to the hotel. These two are both definitely worth visiting! Also visit the Blue Marlin in Cala Jondal (other side of the airport).
CLUBS Ibiza is the number one party island, so there are plenty of clubs. Most of them can be found in Ibiza Town and San Antonio, in which famous DJs such as Armin van Buuren, Tiësto, Afrojack and David Guetta spin their records. The very popular Ushuaïa is close to the hotel. The sickest parties are thrown here! Other clubs are: Amnesia, Space, Pacha, Es Paradis, Privilege, Eden, El Divino, Café del Mar, and Bora Bora.
SHOPPING Fun items for home, clothes, souvenirs; you can find it all on Ibiza! Visit Ibiza Town and the Marina and enjoy! Don’t forget to walk on the promenade Paseo Vara del Rey, because it has lots of fun boutiques. Make sure you also pay a visit to the hippie market, since this is one of Ibiza’s main attractions. Many artists have moved to Ibiza since the 60s because of its unique atmosphere and freedom. You can find many handmade clothing, exotic jewellery and art pieces here.
IDENTIFICATION REQUIREMENT Spain, so also Ibiza, has an identification requirement. It is therefore very useful to bring an identity card in addition to your passport, so you won’t always have to carry your passport around. You will also have to identify yourself when making any payments by debit- and credit card. Your driver’s license is often not an acceptable form of identification.
TIME DIFFERENCE Ibiza has the same time zone as the Netherlands. It’s possible you forget all about the time though, but that’s not a problem during your holiday!
7
EMERGENCY NUMBERS We hope it won’t be necessary, but if you need the police, fire department and/or an ambulance in case of emergency, you can call the following numbers: Police: 112 Fire department: 080 Ambulance: 061 Les Mills also has a phone number you can call in case of an emergency, which is: +49 15 22 959 04 15. You should only call this number if there’s an emergency.
PAYING Spain has the Euro and has an identification requirement if you pay by any card.

Description special masterclasses TRIATHLON Triathlon is an activity with multiple disciplines: swimming, cycling, and running. The ‘full’ triathlon consists of: 3.8 km swimming, 180 km cycling and 41.195 m of running (marathon distance). Your challenge will be an eighth of a triathlon: 700 m swimming, 20 km cycling and 5 km running. This is the ultimate test for athletes!
MOUNTAINBIKE Are you getting on your mountain bike? Make sure this bike is made for cycling off-road, on dirt roads and paths, because it may be a bumpy ride. You will cover a maximum distance of 20 to 25 km with the RPM team.
AQUAVIVE BODYVIVE as you’ve never experienced it before… in the water! Splashing moves becoming challenging because of the resistance of the water. Old school Aquarobics is made sexy and is modernised by the trainers that will provide a creative and ‘Ibiza proof’ BODYVIVE lesson. There’s also a CROSS-VIVE workout on the schedule. This is the BODYVIVE Crosstraining!
BODYSTEP - DOUBLE TROUBLE Double the fun with not just one, but two Les Mills SMARTSTEPS. Be surprised by this challenging BODYSTEP masterclass in which your neighbour’s step is not safe. Never seen before and you can be part of it!
LET’S BATTLE Punch, kick, crawl, run, jump… Be prepared to defend yourself in the battle of your life. GRIT, the High Intensity Interval Training, is mixed with the best of BODYCOMBAT. It will bring out the fighter in you!
WORKSHOP MAXIMIZE MOTIVATION - BY JAN M I DDELKAMP A core assignment of every instructor is to maximise the motivation of the participants in a group fitness session. Les Mills Int. has recently started doing extensive research on this topic, based on the so-called Self-Determination Theory. This workshop will teach you how to use self-motivation scales and several forms of social support, among other things. We also elaborate on practical techniques together to increase the intrinsic motivation during the class. 14

What’s there to do?
Ibiza may be a synonym for parties, music, clubs and bars, but you can also find a lot of culture, nature and history on the island. We gladly help you on your way!
SANTA EULÁRIA DEL RIO Another attractive place is Santa Eulalia Del Rio. You can stroll the boulevard and do some people watching. Visit the hippie markets Punta Arabu in Es Canar and Las Dalias near Sant Carles. Do you enjoy visiting historical and cultural sites? Make sure to visit the church Es Puig de Missa, authentic mills, the S’Argamassa Aqueduct, the Torre d’en Valls from the 18th century, and Cap des Llibrell near Cala Longa.
IBIZA TOWN Ibiza Town is a large, medieval city. The walled part of the city is located on a hill. Quaint, whitewashed little houses, a large stone gate with a steep incline and stairs dominate the city scene. The vibrant part of the city can be found in the Sa Penya district near Carrer de La Verge. The relatively new part of the city houses the boulevard Vara del Rey, with modern stores, bars, and restaurants.
LAS SALINAS Are you more of a nature person who loves peace and quiet? Visit Las Salinas. It’s a nature reserve with salt flats, where you can spot different kinds of birds, including flamingos.
FORMENTERA The island Formentera is located 7 km south of Ibiza, and is a lot calmer. The island is known for its white sandy beaches and the freedom of tanning nude! You can see the island from Sant Joseph de sa Talaia, as well as Es Vedra and Es Vedranell, two other idyllic little islands. Suggestion: make a boat trip to one of these islands.
DALT VILA Dalt Vila is the old city centre of Ibiza Town with its harbour La Marina. The city centre has partially excavated historic walls from the 16th century. The cathedral Santa Maria d’Eivissa majestically rises about the entiry city, because it’s on the top of Dalt Vila. The nightlife on Ibiza starts in the harbour around sundown, where drag queens parade around. Make sure to visit this vibrant and authentic part of the city!
BEACHES Ibiza has dozens of beaches, of which some annually receive a blue flag from the European Union. This flag is an exclusive eco-label, and is therefore an international environment award. Some of these beaches are located in lonesome bays, but most beaches are packed with tourists. Famous beaches include Platja d’en Bossa, Platja Ses Salines, S’Aigua Blanca, and Platja d’es Cavallet. The beach of Platja d’en Bossa gradually slopes into the water, and it’s not too crowded.
SAN ANTONI DE PORTMANY A popular place is San Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio), a former fishing village with nice terraces, trendy clubs and beautiful beaches! It is said that Columbus was born here. End your visit with a drink at Café del Mar in a fairytale setting at sunset.
