Networking Reception
Since 1998, The Community Foundation’s office in Prince George’s County has worked closely with individuals, families, and businesses to match donor intent with community opportunity to create deeper local impact. We serve an important role in the County as a bridge between generous individuals, government and the business sector, and local nonprofit organizations. The Community Foundation’s efforts in Prince George’s County have led to an investment of more than $50 million to help improve the economic mobility of county residents. We need to stop using our old framework (education, workforce development, health, and safety net services) to describe our work.
In addition to celebrating our donors and community partners, we are delighted to salute our 2022 honorees whose inspiring stories demonstrate what’s possible when one is committed to building communities where all people can reach their full potential.
We are deeply grateful to our sponsors for underwriting our Civic Leadership Awards event and to our Community Champions for supporting The Community Foundation’s leadership work. Your support fuels The Community Foundation’s efforts to ignite the power of philanthropy, catalyze community impact, and respond to critical community needs.
Finally, to the new friends here tonight, we hope you will join our community of givers! We are excited to share with you the many ways that you can partner with The Community Foundation to make a deep and lasting impact on the causes you care about most.

Here are 3 initiatives where you can make an impact, support causes that matter to you the most, and benefit the residents of Prince George’s County:
The Emerging Leaders Impact Fund seeks to channel resources to help organizations deepen their impact and provide hope and opportunity in Prince George’s County. ELIF encourages collective giving and civic engagement. Together, we will pool our resources, learn first-hand about nonprofits working in Prince George’s County, and invest in those that help our residents participate more fully in the social and economic path.
The Equity Fund supports nonprofit organizations working to eliminate social and economic disparities and create pathways to economic success.
Sharing Prince George’s brings together donors who share our passion for building a more equitable, just, and thriving Prince George’s County. With expert facilitation by Community Foundation staff, donors join together to learn first-hand about the challenges facing our community. Thanks to the generosity of this growing community of givers, together we discover and invest in visionary nonprofits working on the frontlines of our region’s most pressing needs.
We would like to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to YOU—all the generous people who make up our community of givers at the Greater Washington Community Foundation.
We deeply appreciate the passion you bring to your giving, and the myriad ways you leverage your connections, strategic thinking, and creativity to help our nonprofit grantees deepen their impact. Most importantly, your enthusiasm inspires friends and family to learn more, get involved, and give!
We hope you feel proud of our collective giving and impact on our local region…
In addition to directly supporting hundreds of nonprofits around the world and across the region, we are grateful that so many people, businesses, and foundations choose to pool their giving through our community impact funds.
Here in Prince George’s County, your combined generosity enabled us to grant more than $3.8 million last year to…
Help individuals and families move from crisis to stability by providing resources to meet their basic needs—housing, medical care, domestic violence prevention, mental health support, legal services, and emergency food assistance—and move towards self-sufficiency
Halt learning loss for children disproportionately at risk for achievement gaps by providing learning opportunities that facilitate educational and social-emotional development
Mitigate the impact of reduced wages and lost work for hourly and gig economy workers by providing direct assistance and opportunities to employment
We are proud that our community leadership grantees represent some of the best community-based nonprofits working to build more equitable, just, and thriving communities.
