Biography
Petra Lidia Ševeljević rođena je 1976. u Zagrebu. 2000. diplomirala je slikarstvo na Akademiji likovnih umjetnosti u Zagrebu, u klasi prof. Igora Rončevića. 1999. je kao stipendist boravila u Budimpešti (Mađarska), na Akademiji primijenjenih umjetnosti, a 2010 je koristila program dvomjesečne rezidencije u Parizu (Francuska). Izlagala je na 15 samostalnih i više grupnih izložbi u zemlji i inozemstvu. Živi i radi u Zagrebu.
Petra Lidia Ševeljević was born in Zagreb in 1976. She graduated in 2000 at the Academy of Fine Arts, in Zagreb, specialized in Painting, in the class of Prof. Igor Rončević. In 1999 she won the Budapest (Hungary) Scolarship of the Academy of Applied Art. In 2010 she was resident of the ‘Cite International des Arts’ in Paris (France) for 2 months. She had 15 independent and many collective exhibitions, in Croatia and abroad. She works as a freelance artist in Zagreb, Croatia.

Sjedim u kinu, strpljivo čekam početak filma, nakon 10-minutnih reklama, preko cijelog kino platna se prikaže: ‘Tako je malo potrebno da budete junaci, RECIKLIRAJTE!’ Pozivaju se posjetitelji kino projekcija da svoje otpatke, ukoliko ih bude, razvrstaju u kante na izlazu iz dvorane. (Pozivam posjetitelje Galerije na isto :D ) Vidjevši tu objavu, osjetila sam, osim iznenađenja i oduševljenja, i ponos!!... zaboravila sam na sve što se dogodilo prije te sam s ogromnim veseljem uronila u sljedeći trenutak u kojem je započeo film! Mislila sam si; recikliranje – herojstvo, ma koliko je samo načina!? - bezbroj... na koje možemo izraziti brižnost za svijet oko sebe. Svaki čovjek je HEROJ i to svaki dan. Ne moramo biti Thor, Captain America ili Slon da bismo bili heroji. Ali i možemo!! Svaki nam dan nudi 24 h za neko novo herojstvo, ma kako malo bilo, možda samo prepoznati ga ili ako ništa drugo; RAZVRSTATI OTPAD!
Milijarda je galaksija, svemir nema granica, pa tako ih ni ja ne postavljam gledatelju dok promatra slike, a ni sebi dok slikam svoje interpretacije heroja. Ukratko, slike govore o mojoj zaljubljenosti u životinje, Zemlju, recikliranje, ekologiju, filmske Marvel junake, stripovske, mitske i stvarne junake, te šarene boje! Idealiziranju suživota na Zemlji, suradnje između životinjskog i ljudskog svijeta za koje smatram da su više nego ikada neophodni za daljnji napredak naše jedine Planete Zemlje. Marvelnjaci! Hvala što ste junaci!

I’m sitting in the cinema, patiently waiting for a movie to start, then after 10 minutes of commercials, the whole cinema screen lights up with the message: ‘It doesn’t take much to be a hero, RECYCLE! The visitors are invited to recycle their waste, if there is any, to classify it in buckets when leaving the cinema hall. (I invite the visitors of Karas Gallery to do the same :D) Seeing that announcement, I felt surprised, delighted and proud!! ... I forgot about everything that had happened before, and with great joy plunged into the next moment in which the film started! I thought, the recycling – heroism!? just imagine how many ways there are (countless ...) to express our concern for the world. Every man is a hero, every day. You do not have to be Thor, Captain America or Elephant to be a hero. Every day gives us 24 hours for some heroic act, no matter how small. We just might recognize it or, if nothing,
else classify the waste, RECYCLE! There are billion galaxies, the universe has no boundaries, therefore I do not impose boundaries on the viewers while they are watching the paintings, nor do I impose boundaries on myself while I paint and interpret the way I see heroes, the Earth and all of us. Briefly, my paintings speak about my love for animals, the Earth, recycling, movie, comic and mythical or real heroes, and of course, colourful colours! I idealize coexistence on Earth, I think of the importance of the collaboration between humans and the animal and human world.
