ADULT ACNE: WHAT ARE THE CAUSES AND HOW TO FIHGT IT?
.................................................................................... Many adults have acne, as it is a very common problem and not just for teens. Faulty closing of the hairduct, changes in hormone levels like stopping or switching birth control pills and menopause as well as stress can cause the break out. Some medications such as corticosteroids and lithium can also cause acne, and in some cases other health conditions cause it. Your dermatologist can help you know the real reason. Specialists recommend daily skin care; using a gentle cleanser, using your hands or a baby washcloth (because it is gentler than the regular one) and patting (not rubbing) the skin dry. Additionally, avoid washing your face frequently; washing it gently twice a day is advisable.
A gentle, good cleanser – while washing away makeup, pollution and dirt – would help other skin products work better, and they will not strip your skin. Retinoid lotions or creams help lessen wrinkles and clear the skin, and sulfur products are good for spot treatment. Benzoyl peroxide products are also advised to fight acne, but they should be used occasionally, since they can make your skin dry.
