MEDIA-FILL TEST KITS are intended to prove the skills of pharmacy technicians and pharmacists involved in the compounding process. USP <797> standards indicate all staff engaged in sterile compounding should perform media fill testing at least quarterly to evaluate aseptic technique and earn requalification. Testing procedures should use the most difficult and challenging compounding procedures and processing conditions encountered by that person during their work shift.

Choosing your kit: We offer kits in three levels. The difficulty of maintaining sterility is dependent on the conditions while compounding and the Beyond-Use date (BUD). Choose the kit that is similar to the most involved procedure practiced in your pharmacy. Each kit is valid for one person and must not be interrupted once testing begins. When testing is complete, items must be incubated and monitored for turbidity. Hospitals should follow internal SOP to determine testing frequency.
