What Actually Bipolar Disorder Is? Bipolar is a mental disorder which affects a person’s moods and emotional states making them to become Hyperactive (Hypomania) or Depressed which results a increase or decrease in energy, behaviour, thinking capacity. In Hypomanic episode, The person may experience increased in energy which causes them to go on shopping spree, making poor decisions, taking sexual risks and drug abuse.


Whereas in Depressive episode, The person feels fatigue and insomnia, Doctors have seen a restless and slow behaviour, suicidal tendencies, feeling of guilt and worthlessness. People suffering from bipolar disorder have a difficulty in conducting day-to-day daily activities. Bipolar may not be curable but it can be treated, and help people to live a normal life.



Bipolar Disorder can Classified in 3 Types: Bipolar I In Bipolar I, the patient experiences a minimum of one Hypomanic episode. This can last up to 7 days and patient requires immediate medical attention. This type of bipolar disorder can occur in both men and women.

Bipolar II In type 2 disorder, The patient suffers from at least one depressive episode. This can last up to two weeks. And the chances of hypomanic episode are also high. This type bipolar disorder is mostly seen in women.


Cyclothymia A person with Cyclothymia experiences both Hypomanic and Depressive but at longer intervals. In Depressive Episode the symptoms are: ● Feeling of Worthlessness. ● Low energy levels. ● Sleeping too much or too less. ● Feels no enjoyment. ● Suicidal Tendencies. ● Experiences sadness, worried, guilty.

What causes bipolar disorder symptoms is still a question mark, Researchers and Doctors are still finding the reason. The cause is still unknown but these factors can justify it. Genes : If anyone from your Family may be parents or sibling has disorder, then you’re most like likely to develop such condition. It’s just an assumption, most people don’t inherit bipolar disorder though their parents have bipolar disorder.


Abnormal Brain Development: Those who bipolar disorder tend to have physical changes in their brain structure. Abnormalities in brain can lead to increased risk of having bipolar disorder.


Due Excess Stress or Traumatic Event: A person is more likely to develop disorder because of the environment which influences your personality traits. Working in extreme stress or experiencing traumatic incidents can lead to bipolar disorder. However, The Bipolar disorder is chronic disease but that doesn’t mean you can’t live a normal life.
