Effective Treatment Methods for Diabetic Neuropathy Proper and timely treatment can help manage diabetic neuropathy effectively.

According to the statistics from the American Diabetes Association, 10.9 million or 26.9% of people aged 65 years and older have diabetes. Diabetic neuropathy refers to nerve damage that occurs in people with diabetes. Progression of the neuropathy and nerve damage can be prevented with early treatment. For patients with uncontrolled blood glucose levels, the blood vessels that carry oxygen to the nerves can be damaged. There are different types of diabetic neuropathy such as peripheral neuropathy, autonomic neuropathy, femoral neuropathy, thoracic/lumbar radiculopathy and Charcot’s joint. Peripheral neuropathy is the most common form. While the causes of diabetic neuropathies differ, symptoms for nerve damage can include indigestion, numbness, loss of bladder control, tingling of the feet and lower legs, dizziness, and difficulty swallowing.
