Floyd Laughren Floyd Laughren has been a retailer, teacher, politician, economic regulator and a volunteer. Following a 27 year career in Ontario politics he was appointed Chair of the Ontario Energy Board in 1998, a position from which he retired in 2003. Prior to entering politics he taught Economics at Cambrian College in Sudbury. As a part of the Rae government he served as Deputy Premier, Minister of Finance, and Chair of the Policy and Priorities Board of Cabinet. Mr. Laughren is a graduate of Ryerson and York Universities and has an Honourary Doctorate from Laurentian University in Sudbury. He has been an active volunteer since his retirement and currently is the Past-Chair of the Board of Governors of Laurentian University, Chair of the Sudbury Credit Union, and Past Chair of the Sudbury United Way/Centraide Campaign. In 2006 he chaired the Sudbury Community Solutions Team. Currently Mr. Laughren is also a member of the Samsung Ontario Advisory Counsel.
Conway Fraser Conway Fraser is a strategic communications advisor with Fraser Torosay and a Gemini Award-winning former CBC journalist with over 25 years experience as a professional communicator. He helps companies, organisations and executives in areas such as issues management, transformational change, stakeholder relations and external communications. Conway works in sectors like mining, aerospace, engineering, construction, telecommunications, PSE, healthcare, tech start-up and finance. He is also very active in the community, having served on a number of Boards and donating countless hours of service to charities and non-profit organisations. As a journalist, Conway worked as a national reporter, investigative journalist, senior producer and Parliamentary correspondent. He has been recognised with a Top 40 Under 40 award, a Laurentian University Alumni Young Leader Award and served as Laurentian’s first-‐ever Executive in Residence. He and his wife, Angie, have four children and are proud to call Sudbury their hometown.
Dr. Catherine Cervin Dr. Catherine Cervin (Cathy) Cervin grew up in southern Ontario, went to medical school at the University of Toronto, finished her family medicine residency at Dalhousie and then practiced full scope family medicine in Northern Ontario (Timmins and Sault Ste. Marie) for seven years before embarking on an academic career in the Department of Family Medicine at Dalhousie. While at Dalhousie, Dr. Cervin took on a number of leadership roles. She became Hospital Chief of the Department of Family Medicine at the Grace Maternity Hospital (now the IWK Women and Children’s Health Centre), she was Residency Program Director for Family Medicine for ten years, and most recently was the Interim Department Head of Dalhousie Family Medicine. As befits a generalist, her professional interests are wide ranging and include social accountability, educating for comprehensive primary care, curriculum development, learning portfolios, communication skills and cultural competency. Her clinical interests include primary maternity care, the patient centred approach and chronic disease care.
Dr. Killian de Blacam Dr. Killian de Blacam has been a family physician practicing in Sudbury since 1983. He is an active member of the HSN Medical Staff with admitting privileges and current Vice President of the Medical Staff. Dr. de Blacam is a past president of the Sudbury and District Medical Society, former member of the Ontario Medical Association as well as former Chief of Family Medicine at HSN.
