With companies looking to establish a successful wellness program, the needs are greater to have a dedicated staff person to manage all aspects of worksite wellness. Our multifaceted Wellness Coordinators support the unique needs of each client, which can include everything from running their wellness program, to providing health coaching, teaching group fitness classes, offering personal training, integrating with safety/ environment/HR/Benefits and managing a fitness room/center. What we are seeing, even in a short amount of time, is our onsite Wellness Coordinators are making a difference! They are positively impacting not only employee health behavior change, but also company culture. At ATK, where Joan Wipperfurth is a “do it all” Wellness Coordinator, their fitness center attendance has almost doubled compared to the previous year (prior to having a Wellness Coordinator). And employees are talking; they are happier and healthier because she’s there! The addition of Joan to ATK has been life changing. Prior to her joining our team I had let my health spiral out of control... I met with Joan and developed an exercise plan and she gave me ideas for healthy eating. Just having her around the building has helped me immensely. As of today I’m down 39 pounds, my blood pressure is normal and I have more energy.
