Focus on one task at a time
Lifestyle changes require time and commitment. Don’t overwhelm yourself with several goals at once, instead, focus on one task at a time. This will allow you to move at your own pace without feeling defeated. For example, if you struggle with getting your daily intake of water, leave a bottle of water next to your bed and try drinking at least eight ounces upon rising each morning.
Be patient
There’s no need to hurry the process. It’s important to set realistic goals and give yourself time. Better yet, envision the process of building healthier habits as your personal health plan. Break it into several chapters to represent the days of your life. Review daily and remember, you are in charge of every chapter!
Savor the small victories
Each time you hit a milestone, celebrate yourself because you are AWESOME!. Listen to your inner voice, it will guide you and let you know when it’s time to push yourself a little further.
Enjoy the journey
Have fun and don’t get caught up worrying about the outcome. I challenge you to incorporate daily positive behaviors. Some of my favorites include reading inspirational poems and quotes, treating myself to an at-home facial and listening to upbeat music.
