CHAIR OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS YPO
KELLY DAVIS
BEAUMONT ENTERPRISE, REGIONAL DIRECTOR

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

One of my favorite things about Southeast Texas is the willingness to support one another. With the exception of college, I have lived my entire life in Southeast Texas. I have seen the needs, but I also have recognized that there are so many amazing people willing to step up and give back to the community we are a part of. Seeing other people’s community involvement has really encouraged me over the years to want to do my part as well. I love serving in different roles across our community!

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

One of my proudest achievements is the work I have done for suicide prevention in my area. I have been able to see how my work, as well as the work of those I have collaborated with, has positively impacted the community. Through outreach, support and education, we have made major strides in saving lives within Southeast Texas -- specifically through “Hope Makers Day,” where we provided free art therapy classes to the community. It really started because I wanted to do something different from what

we had done before when it comes to mental health, suicide, and art. It was so amazing to have so many people come together and share their struggles, but also their strength with one another. It was so healing for many.

MY SECRET TALENT:

Painting! I do not often share my painting with others because it is more for self-care, but I love it!

MY CAREER GOAL:

My goal is to go back to school to continue my education and growth within my current field.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

Being recognized would truly be an honor for me both personally and professionally. Although I am very involved in the community, I sometimes feel overlooked due to my more introverted nature. To be highlighted for my accomplishments would not only be an amazing achievement but also would really solidify the feeling that I am making a difference in my community. I hope that this will be the year that I am one of the 40 under 40 honorees!

DUSTIN ACOSTA

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing about Southeast Texas is the strong sense of community. I’ve met sincere people who care about my wellbeing and goals. I often attend Beaumont ISD and Lamar University events with Public & Government Affairs where I meet new people, learn about Beaumont and feel a warm, driven connection like home.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

As a first-generation student, my transition to college was tough, but I set a goal to graduate Cum Laude. Despite many challenges, I worked hard and achieved this honor, which was incredibly meaningful to me, given my struggles and family history.

MY SECRET TALENT:

My secret talent is making people feel

welcomed and heard. This ability has helped me build strong relationships in various teams, fostering trust and motivation that drive us towards achieving our goals together.

MY CAREER GOAL:

I hope to advance at ExxonMobil and lead major projects like carbon capture or net-zero emissions. My goal is to pave the way for future generations by contributing to impactful, sustainable solutions and inspiring others to pursue careers in energy.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

Being a 40 Under 40 honoree means that my journey from Honduras to becoming a first-generation engineer is recognized. It would validate the sacrifices of my family and show that my efforts to inspire others are making a difference.

GENERAL MANAGER, 5 UNDER GOLF CENTER

RESPONSIVE

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

Great people! I’ve seen the warmth and kindness of the Greater Beaumont area, and it’s unlike anywhere else. I love the teamwork of our communities and the overlap of cultures. The people make the difference and the friendships last forever.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

Building and maintaining relationships in the restaurant industry is really important to me, and collaborating with others to see little wins add up to big successes is great.

MY SECRET TALENT:

My putting game is pretty good.

MY CAREER GOAL:

Keep progressing and improving and surround myself with good people. Help others succeed... Success is sure to follow.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME: I’m very grateful and proud to be included. It means that my friends, peers, family, teammates and colleagues are honored, too — any recognition for me is a direct, shared recognition for them.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing about Southeast Texas is its diversity. Southeast Texas goes above and beyond recognizing and accepting cultural differences within the community. I often find myself observing how each and every person is different but not divided. Attending festivals and visiting restaurants, we are surrounded by linguistic diversity. Multiple languages are spoken within the area, reflecting our multicultural population. The diversity in Southeast Texas is vibrant, which makes us broaden our perspectives.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

As an educator, mother and wife, I am most proud of the impact I make on my students each year. Although I have been presented with awards and special recognition, I am most proud of the unmeasurable impact students and parents have expressed to me. I am always inspiring and striving to push my students, children and husband to reach their full potential. When my students tell me ‘’I want to be a teacher when I grow up just like you,’’ that lets me know that I have provided them with a positive role model, fostered their learning and provided them with a sense of security. These achievements highlight the profound and lasting impact I have on the lives of those I teach and care for and that is what makes me most proud.

MY SECRET TALENT:

My secret talent is my ability to tumble/perform acrobatics. Not many people beyond family and friends

know that I attended Lamar University on a cheerleading scholarship. What I like about tumbling is that it requires patience and resilience. It is very gratifying when I attempt a skill from my collegiate years and accomplish it. Tumbling involves a lot of starting over and correcting mistakes, which I love, because I am always reminded that doing something well takes multiple tries without giving up.

MY CAREER GOAL:

In my career in the future, I hope to become an admirable and honorable educator. Whether I advance further into administration or I continue my career as an Instructional Coach, I hope to memorably impact educators and scholars discovering their strengths and conquering their challenges. I hope to continue fostering positive relationships with colleagues, students and families for many years to come.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

Receiving the 40 Under 40 award is significant honor and recognition of my efforts, impact and achievements within my field. It symbolizes acknowledgment from peers and leaders in the industry, validating the hard work and dedication put into my career. This award could also provide new opportunities for networking, collaboration and further growth, inspiring me to continue striving for excellence and making meaningful contributions.

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER, ENTERGY

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

I am born and raised in Southeast Texas, so it feels like home. It’s big enough to have options for entertainment and local eats but small enough that you are only a few degrees of separation from solving any problem. Everyone knows someone who can help with any issue or opportunity, and people genuinely want to help.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

As the youngest director in company history, I increased customer satisfac-

tion from 71% to 93% while reducing customer concessions by 35%.

I will be a vice president within my company in the next 10 years.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

To even be considered is a tremendous honor! If selected, this would be my proudest professional achievement.

I completed my undergraduate degree in three and a half years and master’s degree in a year and a half while working full-time to support myself.

MY SECRET TALENT:

Growing up, I spent many, many days in the kitchen baking with my Mawmaw. I have an uncanny ability to bake something sweet for all to eat. Days in the kitchen with my

Mawmaw were some of the most defining moments in developing my character – learning to listen and express opinions in a safe environment and to work together are skills we need every day. And, of course, the happy memories of days with Mawmaw that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

MY CAREER GOAL:

From a very young age, I have always been determined. I once told my eighth-grade counselor that I wanted to be the president of the United States when I grew up. I have consistently set goals very high for myself. In the next five years, I hope to obtain my SHRM-CP (Certified Professional).

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

I am always called back home, whether it be because of the friendly smiles and waves, the rallying of neighbors when devastating times arise, the vast offering of ecosystems, the enjoyment of sports and the outdoors, or the overwhelming support our community has for a good cause. When we moved away to pursue graduate degrees in medicine, Southeast Texas remained a priority to return to. We needed to move back to serve our community and continue supporting its growth, just as the community supported ours.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

I am most proud of earning my PhD in Nursing and maintaining a 4.0 GPA as a full-time student while serving my nursing peers as a full-time nurse manager during the COVID pandemic and transitioning to a full-time nursing academic career when the pandemic ended. I began my PhD in August 2020. During this time, I was also preparing to become a first-time father of our son Jude. Achieving my PhD during some of the most stressful times of my career allowed me not only

HANNAH LETULLE

CARING

MY

FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing of Southeast Texas has to be the sense of community! This place has watched me grow both as a person and a professional and allowed me to thrive. I feel like we have a good balance between space for family and activities to be together as a community.

MY PROUDEST

ACHIEVEMENT:

Did not answer

MY SECRET TALENT:

Singing! I love to sing, even if I haven’t done it formally in a long time. As a child, I joined my city’s children’s choir through early high school (about six years). In high school, I moved on to participate in public

talent shows and nowadays I mainly deal in karaoke, which I enjoy with friends.

MY

CAREER GOAL:

I hope to be able to continue to grow and challenge myself to stretch my capabilities, while I can positively influence others so they can be fulfilled in their careers as well.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

It is an honor to be recognized not only by my employer, but also by my adopted city. I’ve been in Southeast Texas for almost 10 years and have loved ones in the community. The selection is a reflection of my myself as a well-rounded individual and a semblance of what I may impact in our broader community.

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing about Southeast Texas is the people - while Texas is an incredibly diverse state, the melting pot of culture, interests, expertise and talent in Southeast Texas could rival any large city. We have amazing food, beautiful nature preserves and art bursting at the seams.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

I am most proud of hearing stories about personal growth and development as a result of some of the work I do. For example, a class that I orchestrated at LIT (Industrial Radiography) changed the life of a 50-year-old single mother who went from being worried about eviction and starvation to owning a home in Mid-County a year later; or a student who gained friendship after a tough lonely year in school at our KIDmunity camp at Southeast Texas Stages. These stories and personal experiences are what motivate me in any work or volun-

teer situation I find myself.

MY SECRET TALENT:

My secret talent is being able to see what people need or want and help them achieve that by connecting them to a resource they need (an educational program, government resource, non-profit, school, a person, an activity, etc).

MY CAREER GOAL:

I hope in the future I can make an impact in the arts, because I believe they can change lives and build empathetic communities - when you can walk a mile in another’s shoes, you can’t help but be kinder and more just towards them. My ultimate career goal would be to help build a compassionate world.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

That recognition means that I have the blessing of the Chamber to continue to evangelize for the economic and social benefits of arts and culture, despite some in this area feeling that it is unimportant work.

DIRECTOR OF HR & RISK MANAGEMENT, JEFFERSON COUNTY

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

Having a large, close-knit family here is my absolute favorite thing about Southeast Texas. However, I can’t go without saying that I also love the diversity and unique blend of cultural cuisine you can experience here in Southeast Texas, such as flavorful Cajun blends of Asian and Mexican cuisine.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

I am most proud of the trusting relationships I have built while working for the County. This is evident in the unwavering support I received from employees, department heads and elected officials when the Commissioners Court appointed me as the Director of HR & Risk Management in 2022. I take immense pride and responsibility in serving the public and employees in each of my roles.

MY

SECRET TALENT:

I have a secret talent for quickly memorizing songs’ lyrics, rhythm

and timing. I’ve loved music since I was little and enjoy a variety of genres and decades in both English and Spanish. Once I learn a song, I never forget it. Some may call it talent; my husband may call it something else on long road trips, but it’s all fun!

MY CAREER GOAL:

I aspire to positively influence young people and empower them to become confident leaders within our community. Having experienced self-doubt and a lack of confidence, I understand the challenges it brings. I want to serve as a mentor for those facing similar struggles.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

It means the world to me. As a first-generation Mexican-American, I learned that faith, hard work and perseverance are the principles of lasting success. This recognition is a personal accomplishment for me, a tribute to my parents’ sacrifices and support, and a source of pride for my family.

PRINCIPAL, ENTREPRENEUR/OWNER AND OPERATOR, FRED ELEMENTARY, TRIPLE D RANCH & MAROON

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing about Southeast Texas is, hands down, the people. I have worked in public service since the day I could work, and I will never tire of serving the people in our communities. The people of Southeast Texas are truly some of the kindest, most gracious people, and I am blessed to be able to serve them and work alongside them in so many aspects.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

I pride myself on being ambitious and determined for success, which makes my proudest achievement the legacy I am leaving behind for my children. My husband and I have built everything we have from scratch solely so that our children could have better lives than we did. Five years ago, we bought our first venue and began operating it in our “free” time between our primary professions. We had four children and a very full schedule, but we were determined to make it work. Fast forward to 2020 and we were hit with the COVID pandemic. Places for gathering were shut down, and we just knew we wouldn’t survive…but we did. Determined to continue our success, we bought our second venue in Spring 2021. Little did we know that my career in education would lead us to fostering and now adopting, two of my students and their younger sister that fall. In the future, I hope to merge my entrepreneurial success with my success in the education profession and open a school for children who just need a little “more”...much like our children did. We now have seven wonderful children and continue to build a successful legacy to leave

our children…that will always be my proudest achievement.

MY SECRET TALENT:

Oh my goodness, a secret talent. I would say my secret talent would have to be my ability to sing like a Disney princess. My students and children think it’s great, but that talent hasn’t quite made it to the public ear! I also have fantastic time-management and multi-tasking skills... however, those skills are less of a secret...(did I mention seven children and two full-time professions?)

MY CAREER GOAL:

In the future, I hope my dual career in business and education leads me to opening and operating a school for children with neurodiversity. Being able to provide a place for neurodivergent children to find their niche, lean into their strengths and be successful in such a busy world without having to change themselves would be such a blessing. This type of learning environment is desperately needed in our area, and I feel that would be an ultimate contribution to the future growth and prosperity

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

It is such an honor to even be nominated for the 40 Under 40 award. Being selected as a nominee is pivotal. I did not come from much. A LOT of hard work, long hours, determination and many failures have led to where I am now. I hope to continue that success and grow even more, but being recognized for the work put in to get to this point is immeasurable. Thank you for the opportunity!

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

What I like most about Southeast Texas is its people. They are the kindest, friendliest and most welcoming people I have ever met. They are proud of their roots and values; they support their people and welcome with open arms all those who want to know more about their city and culture.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

I am proud to have achieved the academic and professional goals that I have set for myself so far through discipline and resilience, because thanks to them, I have also been able to meet wonderful people that have motivated me to generate a positive impact on other’s life just like they did on me.

MY SECRET TALENT:

I am hyper flexible! I was born with a condition named Joint Hypermobility that makes my joints have an unusual large

range of movement. This means that I can move my limbs into positions others find impossible. I could be a gymnast, ballerina dancer or a circus artist in my free time.

MY CAREER GOAL:

What I hope to achieve is to make a positive impact on our society and environment through my company’s initiatives to reduce our and other companies’ greenhouse gas emissions by using our technology and expertise and thus be able to achieve our goal of net-zero emissions by 2050.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

It is an incredible honor for me to be chosen among my peers because it means I’m part of a group that is committed to change and using our effort, creativity and talent for the betterment of our society. It’s also an honor for the trust bestowed upon us to represent our company and community.

GRADUATE RESEARCH ASSISTANT, TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY

EXCEPTIONAL

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing about Southeast Texas is that it is home, a place to come back and pour into and be poured into. In 2014, I stated in an interview that I wanted to return and help my community after college. Ten years later, that sentiment holds true. I’ve traveled to many places, and none compare to Southeast Texas.

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

When my former students remember certain assignments and lessons I taught them, I am most proud of the impact I was able to make. It is a reminder that the work I am doing is important and further motivates me in my current position to create opportunities for students like them in the future.

MY SECRET TALENT:

My secret talent is my affinity toward mentorship and developing

programs for mentorship. In everything I do, I look for opportunities for mentorship and mentoring. We are stronger when we work together to achieve towards our personal and collective goals.

MY CAREER GOAL:

I will help the teacher workforce in Southeast Texas, particularly Port Arthur. My goal is to work with area districts to support teacher recruitment and retention and community partnerships in hopes of building better teachers and schools.

WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS TO ME:

As someone who generally likes to stay outside of the spotlight, simply being nominated means the world to me. To know that people recognize the work I am doing and commitment I make to the betterment of Southeast Texas is an amazing feeling. It is an honor to be a recipient of this award.

RESOLUTE

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT SOUTHEAST TEXAS:

My favorite thing about Southeast Texas is the beauty of it. I am a huge country girl; I love the outdoors and enjoy being in nature in my time off. Fishing on a still lake in the early morning, kayaking down the Neches River or feeling that Galveston sand between my toes on a scorching hot July afternoon are definitely my happy places. There’s nothing like traveling the country or the world, but reaching these beautiful tall green pine trees, to me, definitely lets you know you are home!

MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT:

Earning my MBA (Master of Business Administration) from Lamar University is a personal milestone I’m incredibly proud of. Graduating with my master’s degree is something I have wanted to achieve for many years, and working at Lamar University has helped me achieve that. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to be a double alumnus, having my undergraduate and graduate degrees from a university that is also my employer. I will tell anyone who will listen what a great place to work and study Lamar University is.

MY SECRET TALENT:

Last year my committee with the Junior League held a “Water Safety” event for foster kids where we went fishing and learned water safety from area game wardens.

It was during this event I learned that baiting a fishing hook is a skill that not many people have. For that event, an organization donated our live bait and several dozen fishing poles so there I sat for two hours that day baiting about 100 fishing hooks with live worms. I have my dad to thank for that, he would never bait my hook for me when I was a kid. I guess he thought that was a skill a girl needed to know.

MY CAREER GOAL:

I prioritize creating a fulfilling worklife balance. I would love to work with a team where I feel valued and able to share creative ideas with people I enjoy working with. Leaving work at work is something I struggle with, so having an environment where I feel at home is something I need to achieve my goals. I would love to someday be a published writer of children’s books and/or novels and serve on the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Beaumont. WHAT 40 UNDER 40 MEANS

TO ME:

Being a 40 under 40 honoree is not something I had on my radar until recent years. When I was nominated this year, I began to look at all of my professional and personal achievements and the impact I’ve made fills me with a deep sense of accomplishment. When you reach your mid-30s you begin to reflect on the direction your life has taken and what you still want to achieve, and this honor is something I can be proud of for years to come.
