She has been the first teacher that my manic ADHD son has thrived with and she not only has him to focus on but a full 20+ students with 5 or more diagnosed ADHD and she has the patience and support of each one of them keeping her students not merely attending but being able to thrive and engaged my son hated school due to his experiences during K-2 he couldn’t even read going into 3rd he was so far behind and now he is it only reading but reading at grade level less than one school year not counting his above average math She has been a blessing in my sons life, and any student would bloom in her

class.

Her enthusiasm for teaching was only topped by the passion she had for her students and the drive to see them succeed. She will forever be one of the most influential people I had the pleasure of meeting in my earlier years.

As this is her final year of teaching before retirement she deserves to be recognized as a teacher/coach who has cared for her students in Jersey Community for more than 30 years.

Ms Porter is an amazing teacher. She makes sure the children in her classroom feel loved and their feelings are validated. It has been such a pleasure having her teach my son this year. Any child that has had her is lucky to have had such an amazing teacher.

DEBORAH J. CAULK

St. Mary’s Catholic School

In addition to 28 years of classroom teaching (20 at St. Mary’s Catholic School) - teaching English, geography, history and literature. Mrs. Caulk and her students have created to scale replicas of Old Saint Mary’s Church, the Anne Frank House, The Lincoln Home and the Arch. Her students have consistent high marks on the ACT. She retired in 2021 and in 2023 when the school asked if she would return for another year - she left retirement to return to fill in an unexpected gap for her school, her community, but mainly for the students. Her students love her and their parents cherish her.
