Greenhand Conduct of Meetings
This contest is exclusive to 9th grade members, in their first official year to compete in high school contests.They learn a total of 11 abilities, of which 3 are randomly drawn and assigned to members of the team to be demonstrated during their meeting.Team members are then asked ten questions to round out their performance.
We had two teams who advanced to the state level contest to complete:

The FFA Creed Contest
The creed contest is for 7-9 grade students to memorize the five paragraph creed. Students are to memorize the FFA Creed exactly as it is written; for this contest they are scored based on persuasion, voice inflection and accuracy as well as answering three questions at the conclusion of their performance.

Junior High Conduct of Meetings
The Junior High Conduct of Meetings contest is designed to prepare junior high students for the upper level contests, such as Greenhand Conduct of Meetings and Parliamentary Procedure. Just like these contests, students must pass and reject motions, as well as go through opening and closing ceremonies.Students must
have knowledge of 7 abilities, but be able to demonstrate 3 during their meeting and answer questions about parliamentary procedure at the conclusion of their meeting.

Demonstration Contest
Students who participate in the Demonstration contest select a topic related to agriculture to showcase agricultural practices through public speaking and teamwork in a 15 minute presentation.This year’s team was titled, Precision Agriculture: Planting the Future.This team showed how a Harvest International single row unit is set up for planting season. We’d like to send special thanks to Wessel’s Precision Planting, Brent and Cody Wessels for their mentorship through this contest season. Team members included, Jacob Henderson, Brady Richmond, Dustin Richmond and Sadie Brooks.

Every year, a select few students are chosen to represent the Laker FFA Chapter in a delegate voting process. Delegates this year voted on bylaw changes to the Michigan FFA Board of Directors, experienced a house session at our state’s capitol, and recognized 2 House of Representatives with their Honorary Michigan FFA Degree. On Friday, they listened to the speeches of the state officer candidates, then voted to install the 2025-2026 State FFA Officer team.
This year Kadie Jarson,Kate Hill and Megan Strieter represented the Laker FFA as delegates at the State FFA Convention.
