Welcome to the 2022-23 School Year! We are excited to start the 2022 23 school year here at Adams Elementary! Our plans focus primarily on skill development in Reading, Writing, and Math, while also training and lifting students in their ability to manage their social emotional wellbeing. A returning teacher leads every grade level class, and we have an excellent, award winning staff. In addition to their traditional classes, students will enjoy our academic field trips and lessons in Art, Music, Physical Education, and World WeLanguage.lookforward to continuing to grow our 5th grade Band, Orchestra, and Choir. All told, it’s going to be a fantastic 2022 23. Remember: Every day is a great day at Adams! Words of Wisdom from Adams Students and Staff At the end of last school year, we asked our graduating 5th grade students to pass along what they’ve learned about doing well and being happy at school. Here are their words of 1.wisdom.Be yourself! Be creative! 3. Focus hard on what you are doing. Never quit if you quit something now, it will only get harder. Always look on the bright side something good will come from everything. Don’t let other people get you down. Trying new things is fun! Be a friend, and then you will have friends. Welcome Back, Explorers! We are excited to begin the 2022 23 school year! The staff at Central Park is preparing for a wonderful school year of engaging and innovative student learning experiences. Nellie, the CPE school dog, is almost 1.5 years old and thrilled to greet everyone back! We hope you can join us on August 16 to come and “Get the Scoop” by enjoying an ice cream social put on by our PTO and receive classroom information during the curriculum portion of the night. We look forward to seeing you soon!

September 15 PTO Ice Cream Social 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Breakfast and Lunch This year, Plymouth Elementary will be participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) as part of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for the School Year 2022 2023. The GREAT NEWS is that ALL students enrolled at Plymouth Elementary can receive a healthy breakfast and lunch with milk NO CHARGE each day. Milk will also be available a la carte for the purchase of $0.60. Celebration of Writing To celebrate student writing throughout the year, second grade teacher Kim Noey hosted an Author's Tea. Families were invited to come in for cookies and punch while they looked over all of their student's writing workshop from the second grade year. At the end of the evening, students took their writing home to save as a great memory from second grade! Title I Did you know that Plymouth receives Title I funding to help students improve academic achievement? Plymouth is a Title building, which means that students can receive additional support for academic and social emotional growth. Part of Title I funding is also used for Family Engagement. Last year, Title funding made events like our Healthy Lifestyles Night and Family Math Night possible!

Everyone enjoyed a family style dinner at Carmines and ended the evening with Broadway’s Beetlejuice musical at the Marquis TheTheater.final day began with a visit to the 911 Memorial, commemorating the September 11, 2001 attacks. Students were somber as t hey examined the nearly 3000 names inscribed in bronze where the twin towers used to stand. Afterward was a tour of Radio City Music Hall, made extra special by the fact workers were preparing the stage for the Tony Awards. There was shopping in Times Square and, finally, a Sunset Harbor Lights cruise with up close views of the Statue of Liberty. It was a trip to remember! 23 HIGH SCHOOL BUS SCHEDULE

The Dow Staff and Administration are excited to start the 2022 23 school year on August 22. We will welcome over 1250 students back to Dow High this year. Our staff has been working diligently to prepare for their return. Please know the health and safety of all our students is one of our top priorities. We look forward to mentoring, encouraging, and challenging our students this year. It is truly an honor to assist our students as they work to meet their educational and career goals they have set for themselves.

Early the next morning, Mr. Farison led the students in a formal rehearsal before departing for St. John the Divine, the larg est gothic cathedral in the world. There, they performed several pieces in the incredible acoustics of the sanctuary followed by a tour which included the church’s man y chapels honoring American immigration at the turn of the century, each chapel built in a different national style and named for saints of different nat ional origins. Lunch was at Ellen’s Stardust Diner, where servers are also the entertainment; several of Ellen’s talented staff have gone on to be cast in Broadway or nat ional tours. Servers were impressed when members of the Meistersingers sang along in harmony to one of their songs! Later that afternoon, students came face to face with many of history’s most influential figures at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum presidents, singers, actors, writers (who knew Ernest Hemingway was so buff?).

For decades, the Midland High Meistersingers have taken their show on the road during an annual out of state performance trip. This year, the students traveled to a place none of them had ever been New York City! The first night in The Big Apple, twenty two students and seven chaperones stood at the top of the Rockefeller Plaza, dazzled by spectacular views of the city skyline.

The Pre Primary Center at Carpenter Street is opening for its fifth year! Each year we have grown and continue to do so. We've added an additional four -year-old preschool classroom for the 2022 23 school year. Currently, we house 2 classrooms of Great Start Readiness Programs, 1 three year old program, 3 four year-old preschool classrooms, and 3 Developmental Kindergarten classrooms. In addition to our excitement over our growth, we are also moving into “full adoption mode” for the International Baccalaureate PYP Play Based Inquiry model for teaching our Developmental Kindergarten students. We have high hopes our teachers will be the pilots for this model, which may move the district to follow other IB/PYP schools around the country, to have play based inquiry as the model for Pre-K through grade 1 in the future. The Pre Primary Center boasts its highly qualified staff, developmentally appropriate approach to teaching, relationship building, and social emotional learning for our students. We are proud and appreciative that so many families allow us the opportunity to give our youngest learners a great school experience! We are looking forward to a great school year for 2022 23!
