From left, Renee Simmer, Antoinette Schumacher and Joe Simmer walk past rows of blooms on Dahlia Hill Monday, Sept. 14, 2020. (Katy Kildee/kkildee@mdn.net) Dahlia Hill is located at the corner of Main Street and Orchard Road in Midland. It was created in 1992 by Charles Breed and Bill Fisher with Breed providing 1,700 dahlias and Fisher contributing 200 yards of topsoil. Today some 3,000 dahlias are planted with over 300 different varieties labeled and arranged along the pathways. The Hill is maintained by about 70 volunteer members of The Dahlia Hill Society of Midland, a nonprofit organization created in 1998 to preserve and maintain the garden. Along the hill are casts of Breed’s Four Seasons sculptures, depicting the seasons in nature and of man. At the top of Dahlia Hill is Equiline Museum, which primarily displays some of the creative work in plastic resins by Breed, along with some of his work in cast paper and bronze. All revenue from sales is used to support the museum. An annual tuber sale, open to the public, takes place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. the last two Saturdays in May at

the Hill, and from 9 a.m. to noon the Monday through Friday between the two Saturdays. Revenue from the tuber sale goes to support the operating costs of the garden. Flowers begin appearing in July and

continue until the first frost. There is no admission fee. Donations may be made to an endowment fund at the Midland Area Community Foundation. The website is http://www.dahliahill.org

Health Care – When and Where You Need It

MidMichigan Health offers a range of virtual care options that help you get the care you need, when and where you need it. Virtual care options allow you to get medical advice or treatment remotely, either from your own home or from your doctor’s office to see a specialist at another location.

MidMichigan Health currently offers these Virtual Care options: E-Visits for Specific Symptoms: Submit a questionnaire about your symptoms and receive a quick reply in your secure MyMidMichigan account.

Video Visits with Your Primary Care Provider: For simple medical appointments that don’t require a physical exam, video visits allow you to consult with your own trusted doctor – not a “teledoc” service – from the safety and comfort of home.

E-Consults: A secure electronic communication between your primary care provider and a MidMichigan Health specialist can save you time and travel.

Telemedicine: Consult with a specialist without traveling for an appointment. The specialist can examine you, ask questions, consult with your local care team and provide expert advice in real time.

MyMidMichigan Patient Portal: Secure online access to your health information and electronic communication with your care team. Check test results Schedule appointments Message your doctor or care team Renew prescriptions View your health record
