• Susnig Center: Located at 401 Mount Street (Jerseyville, IL), the buildling houses 2 offices, 2 workout rooms, a gymnasium, and a dining hall attached to the backside of the building with inner building access. Both the gym and dining hall are available to rent. • Dolan Park: Located at 300 June Street (Jerseyville, IL) is a 26-acre park that houses 6 baseball/softball fields, 4 soccer fields in the fall. Included as well is Donor Pool II, which includes a 240,000-gallon main pool with 2 diving boards, a 45,000-gallon wading pool with play equipment. Season and daily

passes are available, and both facilities can be rented after main pool hours. In addition, a concession stand that is connected to the pool area with service to both the park side and the pool side. Finally, 4 shelters that are available to rent as well as 1 playground and 2 swing sets. • Blackorby Field is home to Junior Panthers football and home to JCHS soccer summer workouts. A concession stand is on site, as well as a parking lot. The field is not lit, however, so currently the field is reserved for daytime activities alone. • Wock Lake: Located at 205 June St. (Jerseyville, IL) is a 24-acre park that houses a 6.5 acre fishing lake. The lake is stocked every fall and srping. Also included at Wock lake is a 3/4-mile walking loop and a pavilion that is available for rent. JPRD recently added 40 new various tree species (Fall 2018) to the lake thanks to the efforts of the Jerseyville Rotary Club. Donor Pool II will be open May 23, 2020 with tentative closing date of August 15, 2020. Toddler time takes place on Fridays during pool season (Ages 0-6 and 3.00 per child), as well as individual and group swim lessons. Registration form must be completed, signed by the participant or a parent if a children’s program, and fee enclosed with check or money order made payable to: Alton Parks and Recreation. Some registration forms are available for download on our website, www.cityofaltonil.com All fees are subject to change without notice. Some programs are limited in size; and registrations will be handled on a first come, first serve basis. When programs reach capacity, additional names will be placed on a wait list. If a program minimum is not reached, a refund will be issued within 4 – 6 weeks. Additional fees will be charged for registrations received after a program deadline.

REFUNDS AND CANCELLATIONS

1. Request for refunds must be made prior to the start of the program. 2. Processing of the refund will require 4 – 6 weeks. 3. There will be a $5.00 service charge for all refunds prior to the first day of the program unless cancelled by the department. If late fee was paid, it will be forfeited upon refund. Online credit card and service fees are not refundable. 4. Once a program or games begin, there will be no refunds unless a medical problem causes request. 5. The Department reserves the right to cancel programs that do not receive sufficient participation. Full refund will be issued for all cancelled programs.

MICRO-SOCCER Boys and Girls ages 4 and 5 A learn-to-play soccer program emphasizing basic skill development, group interaction and fun. We have Spring and Fall sessions. Spring session will meet on Sunday afternoons for 4 weeks in April/May and Fall Session will meet on Sunday afternoons for 4 weeks in September/October. Players must wear shin guards and tennis shoes (no cleats) and bring a #3 soccer ball. FEE: $15.00

YOUTH ACTIVITIES RIVERBEND BASEBALL/SOFTBALL LEAGUE

League schedules usually begin on the 2nd Saturday in May with 10 games and a postseason tournament in July. Home games will be played at Gordon Moore Park with additional games held at Glazebrook Park and the Jerseyville Sports Complex. All T-Ball and Pitching Machine games are at Gordon Moore Park, only. SUMMER DAY CAMP BOYS AND GIRLS COMPLETING GRADES K-5 There will be 3 two-week sessions in June and July. Sessions will be from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., Monday – Friday, at Gordon Moore Park to enjoy games, sports, arts and crafts, and other special activities. Field trips to bowl, ice skate, visit the dam etc. will be scheduled throughout camp. FEE: $45.00/per session

DISC GOLF An 18-hole disc golf course has been laid out in the formerly unusable terrain at Rock Spring Park. Play begins at the area adjacent park shelter across from the baseball diamond. SPECIAL EVENTS (See calendar for dates.) Daddy-Daughter Dance – Held in February. This evening event (6:00-8:30 pm) includes a DJ & dancing, appetizers, a craft, and a

Valentine-themed selfie station. Open to girls ages 3-12 and their fathers or other male adult relative or family friend ages 18+. Mom & Son Bowling – Held in March. This Saturday event from 3:00-5:30 pm includes 2 games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza, salad, & soda, plus a selfie station. Open to boys ages 3-12 and their mothers or other female adult relative or family friend ages 18+. Fireworks at Liberty Bank Amphitheater and Riverfront Park. Annual event on July 3rd. Food Truck Festival – Held in August at the Liberty Bank Amphitheater and Riverfront Park. This event features culinary creations served up from 20+ food trucks from around the region. Bring your appetite because you’ll have a hard time choosing just one! Family Campout at Gordon Moore Park – NEW in 2020. Scheduled for the first Saturday/Sunday in October, this program in progress will offer participants a unique opportunity to pitch their own tents and spend the night in Alton’s premiere park. Currently, plans include dinner, games, a campfire, s’mores, and breakfast. Santa at the Playhouse – Bring your family to the Lucy Haskell Playhouse on the first Saturday in December from 12-2 pm to meet Santa and have your picture taken. Polaroid prints are $2 each, or you may take pictures with your own camera or phone. Christmas Workshop for Kids and Christmas Workshop for Kids & Parents – Held in December. The Kids-only (ages 5+) sessions are on Saturday, and the Kids & Parents (ages 3+) session is on Sunday afternoon. All sessions include crafts, games, play time in our “gingerbread” playhouses, hot cocoa and cookie decorating. (Lunch is also included with the Kids-only all-day registration.)

Vehicle Speed Limit – 20 miles per hour Vehicles shall not leave roadway at any time. Parking is allowed only in designated parking areas. Outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited. Owners must bring proof of up-to-date vaccinations and proof of spay or neuter for all dogs. Dogs that are not spayed or neutered are not allowed in the dog park. Passes can be purchased at City Hall, the Alton Marina, or the Parks and Recreation office.

CARILLON CONCERTS Sundays at Gordon Moore Park in the Nan Elliott Memorial Rose Garden at 5:00 p.m. (Memorial Day weekend through September). Bring your lawn chair.

FISHING CLASSES The Illinois Department of Natural Resources holds fishing classes at Gordon Moore Park Lake. These classes teach hook baiting, casting, pole rigging, and differences in fishing for different types of fish. To register call 462-1181. Dates: TBD

Program Ideas: If you have a bright idea for a new program, please bring your suggestions to the attention of the Recreation Department. We encourage your ideas and welcome fresh input into our program offerings. If you are interested in sharing your skill or trade with others, please contact our Recreation Supervisor, Jordan Gintz. We are always seeking qualified program instructors to lead a variety of enrichment programs. Registration Deadlines: The Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department reserves the right to cancel any program if the minimum number of participants is not met by the registration deadline. Registration deadlines are program specific and identified under each program in this brochure. Ages for Programs: All programs have an age/grade requirement for participation. Ages are determined by the participant’s birthday/grade as of the beginning of the program. Age requirements for our baseball program have separate and firm age restrictions through the Riverbend Baseball/Softball League. Say Cheese: For promotional purposes, photographs may be taken of program participants and at special events. These photos will be used in future publications as well as on our website and social media. If you do not wish to have your photo taken, please notify the photographer and/or the program instructor. Accessibility: The Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department welcomes the opportunity to assist citizens with disabilities to enjoy our facilities, programs and services. Scholarship Program: The intent of the scholarship program is to offer assistance to youth individuals wanting to participate in recreational opportunities who may not otherwise have the means available to participate. Scholarship Request Applications are available at the Parks and Recreation Department. Scholarship recipients must be Village of Godfrey residents. Multiple Child Discount: To ease the financial burden on families with multiple children in our programs, the Village is offering a discount for three or more children in the same family (Godfrey residents) registered for the same recreational program based on the scale below: 1 Child Regular Price 2 Children Regular Price 3 or More Children $10 off each child For example: if a family with four children signs up for baseball, the first two children would pay full price and the third and fourth child would each receive a $10 discount. Coach Voucher Discount Policy: The Village of

Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank the adults who volunteer their time as a head coach for our youth sports program by offering a voucher towards future programming. For those head coaches that successfully complete an entire season and return their equipment, a $20 voucher will be awarded to be used in future programming. The voucher must be used during specified registration times for the desired program. If the coaches do not fulfill their duties as outlined in the code of ethics, or if the coach is removed or reprimanded, the voucher will not be issued. Guide to Godfrey Parks - 2020

Clifton Terrace Park: 3216 McAdams Parkway (Route 100), Clifton Terrace Park is a beautiful 3-acre park located on the Meeting of the Great Rivers Scenic Byway along the Mississippi River. Clifton Terrace Park is a rest stop on the state-owned Vadalabene Bike Trail. Clifton Terrace Park offers a playground, memorial trees, an informative kiosk and restroom facilities. Clifton Terrace is a great place for eagle watching during the winter months. Godfrey Ball Park: 810 Stamper Lane, The Godfrey Ball Park is home to six baseball/softball diamonds and a concession stand with restroom facilities. The youth baseball and softball programs take place at the Ball Park and across the street at the new ball fields in Glazebrook Park. The concession stand is open during games during May, June and July.

Glazebrook Park: 1401 Stamper Lane, Glazebrook Park is the site of all of the special events, including the Great Godfrey Maze in September and October. Glazebrook Park measures 120-acres with two ponds, two playgrounds, two concession stands, three restroom facilities, two rentable shelters, a rentable gazebo, four soccer fields, four lighted-baseball fields and over 2.5 miles of walking trails. Glazebrook Park is home to many of the memorial trees planted annually through memorial donations. Great Rivers Park: 2102 McAdams Parkway (Route 100), Great Rivers Park is Godfrey’s newest park. The Gardens are built in honor of the first Mayor of Godfrey, Lars Hoffman, and his family and aptly named Hoffman Gardens. Homer Adams Park: 6810 Godfrey Road, Homer Adams Park is located on the Village Hall campus. This park has three rentable shelters, a restroom facility, playground and a demonstration garden provided by the University of Illinois Extension Master Gardeners program. Homer Adams Park is home to the first memorial trees planted annually through memorial donations. LA Vista at Gladys Levis Allen Park: 2421 West Delmar (Route 3), LA Vista Park measures 93-acres. LA Vista Park’s mile-long trail received a face lift on its lower half with the assistance of a Scenic Byways Grant. LA Vista is also home to an 18-Hole Disc Golf Course.

Shelter and Gazebo Reservations

Shelters and the gazebo are available to rent in both Glazebrook and Homer Adams Parks. Shelters and the gazebo may be rented from sunrise - 3 pm or 3 pm - sunset or all day according to the fees below. To reserve a shelter, call our office at (618)-466-1483. Tree Planting Program

The Memorial Tree Program accepts requests for trees throughout the year to recognize loved ones. Anyone wishing to purchase a tree is encouraged to do so at the Parks and Recreation Department. Trees cost $125 each. Trees will be planted the following spring and recognized at the annual Arbor Day Celebration at Glazebrook Park on the last Saturday in April. The Arbor Day Celebration will include a memorial dedication ceremony to honor and memorialize those for whom the trees have been dedicated. Memorial Picnic Table and Bench Program

The Village of Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department is offering opportunities to individuals and civic groups to purchase park benches and picnic tables for placement throughout the parks. The benches are standard 6’ benches with backs. The frames are black and the seating is made of green plastic coated expanded metal. Each bench costs $650. There are two options for purchasing picnic tables: the first option is a standard 6’ picnic table that seats eight adults, the second option is a round picnic table with an umbrella that seats eight adults. Both picnic table options are for black powder-coated picnic tables with seating made of green plastic coated expanded metal. Both picnic table options cost $750 each. Optional engraved plaques are also available for an additional fee. The metal plaques measure 4” x 6”. Individual plaques can be customized as indicated below. Each plaque costs $45. Flag Initiative

The Village of Godfrey is now offering the opportunity to purchase American flags to be hung throughout the Village intermittently throughout the year. Flags may be purchased in the spirit of patriotism or memory/ honor of your loved ones. The price per flag is $75. A dedication ceremony will be held annually at the Family Fun Fest celebration at Glazebrook Park in July to recognize donors and those for whom the flags were purchased. Please call the office for more information or visit the website for a purchase form. Brick Pavers and Granite Benches The Village of Godfrey is working two-fold on brick cam-

One end of the brick campaign will be to cover the grassy area in between the ball fields at Glazebrook Park, and the other will be to continue the bricks along the walkway at the Whispering Winds Gazebo in Glazebrook Park. The brick paver and memorial bench program accepts requests for bricks and benches throughout the year to recognize loved ones in conjunction with the North Alton-Godfrey Business Council. Gazebo: Anyone wishing to purchase a brick or bench for the area near the Whispering Winds Gazebo is encouraged to do so through the North Alton-Godfrey Business Council. Ball Fields: For those wishing to purchase a brick for the Glazebrook Park ball fields, forms are available online as well. Funds from this effort will be set aside to be put

Our youth baseball and softball program seeks to teach participants the fundamentals of baseball and softball while instilling good sportsmanship values. Practice will begin in early April with games beginning early May. All home games are played at the ball fields at Glazebrook Park and the Godfrey Ball Park on Stamper Lane. The end of the season tournament for pitching machine will be held the week leading up to the 4th of July. This league offers participants a chance to improve their volleyball skills and have fun with team practice and games. Leagues will be divided up based on grades: 5th - 6th, 7th -8th and 9th - 12th. The Godfrey Parks and Recreation Department’s rookie sports development programs are designed to assist children ages 3-5 years old in learning the basic skills necessary for a successful first-time experience in organized sports activities. Rookie programs focus on parent participation as an integral part of their child’s learning process. Parents participate oneon-one with their child under the guidance of an instructor. Participants will develop their motor skills through different skilled sports activities in a non-competitive atmosphere. The fundamentals of each sport will be covered, including an emphasis on teamwork. Positive reinforcement will be used to build self-esteem and encourage good sportsmanship. Experienced soccer coaches from overseas will focus on challenging players to improve their skills with maximum participation, maximum ball touches and maximum fun! Participants are encouraged to sign up for the British Soccer Camp online at www.challengersports.com. You can make this camp even more enlightening by hosting one of the British coaches for the week. You will receive a camp scholarship (up to $80) for your hospitality. First Kicks is for the youngest campers. Participants ages 3-4 will get an introduction to the basic elements of soccer one hour per day in this weeklong camp. Youth Soccer League Learn the game of soccer through practice and team competition. Participants will be divided into three leagues based on grade: K-1, 2-3, 4-6 and 7-8. In this co-ed program participants will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of the game of basketball. The league will start practices in January. The Parks and Recreation Department of Godfrey and Alton partner up to host a Daddy-Daughter Dance annually. Dads and daughters are invited to put on their dancing shoes, dress their best and step out together for a fun Valentine’s event from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. This event is open to fathers (and father figures) and their daughters ages 3-12. The night will include a DJ and dancing, photos, crafts, appetizers and more. September - November Take an a-maze-ing adventure through two separate mazes cut into seven acres of corn. Opening in late summer, the maze captivates thousands of visitors annually. Wood River Ave. It accommodates approximately 200 people in the main area. The Round House is handicap accessible. A limited number of chairs and tables are available for use in the building. It has a kitchen equipped with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and plenty of counter space. Some utensils are available. The Round House is perfect for dinners, showers, recitals, etc. No smoking is permitted within the building and no alcohol is permitted on the premises.

The bandstand is used for special events and outdoor concerts. Baseball & Softball Diamonds - Emerick Sports Complex, at Sixth Street, has three lighted softball diamonds; Lions, Jaycee and Rotary Fields and one baseball diamond, Dwiggins Field. West End Park (Walcott Street) have one lighted diamond. Basketball Courts - Half courts are available at East End Park and Brushy Grove Park. All these courts are open to the public. Belk Park Clubhouse Multipurpose Hall - Our clubhouse has a multipurpose hall that will seat 168 comfortably, with an outstanding view of the golf course. It has tables and chairs available along with a big screen television and electric fireplace. This room is great for receptions or banquets. It can be rented by contacting Belk Park Golf Course. Fishing - Belk Park Lake and Emerick Sports Complex have fishing available to the public. The park hours are from dawn to dusk. A fishing license is required for anyone 16 & older. Anyone under 16 can fish without a license when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Picnic Areas - Wood River has several picnic areas which are available in the many parks in town. Central Park has picnic tables under a Gazebo-type shelter where there are barbecue pits and electrical outlets available. 021 Alton Telegraph Parks Wood River provides eight major parks with over 300 acres of facilities. The parks include: Belk Park - 234-acres is our largest park located on Rock Hill Road at the eastern edge of the city. In addition to the 18-Hole Championship Golf Course, the present facilities include a lake with fishing, picnic areas, an open field, children’s playground equipment, shelters (which can be rented by visiting the Round House), woodland, open space and a walking path. Belk Park has a clubhouse for rent with a nice-sized multipurpose room and seating for 168. Brushey Grove Park - This one-acre park is located at the corner of Linton and Miland, next to the old fire station. This park includes a playground facility and basketball court. Central Park (Round House) A five-acre park located on Wood River Avenue, adjacent to the High School, offers many activities which include bandstand, playground, gazebo, barbecue pits, Veteran’s Memorial and large activity center commonly referred to as the “Round House”. East End Park - 13 acres and adjacent to the City Garage on 14th Street, East End Park playground apparatus, basketball court, picnic tables, shelter house and a picnic shelter that measures 20´ x 30´. Emerick Sports Complex - This 8-acre complex is located on the North End of Sixth Street at Park Lane. The highlight for the children is our new playground. This colorful addition has plenty to keep the young ones entertained for hours. This complex is the sight of our Men’s Softball league and our summer youth league games. This facility contains three lighted softball diamonds and one baseball diamond. There is a concession stand, and a lake for fishing. West End Park - This 5.5-acre park can be found in the southwest part of town on Walcott St. It has a lighted ball diamond (George Wallace Field), shelter facilities, basketball hoop and playground equipment. Wood River Soccer & Skate Park - 43 acres that contain two lighted regulation soccer fields, one unlighted practice soccer field, a walking path, playground apparatus, skateboard park, ample parking, a concession stand , stadium bleachers to view the playing fields, and a picnic

shelter. KIDS CAMPS We have the programs to keep your kids busy this summer. Registration runs until classes are full. SUMMER DAY CAMP: The Recreation Department will once again have a Summer Day Camp for children kindergarten through 5th grade. Day Camp is held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., June 1, 2020 thru July 10, 2020. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED IN PERSON. A limit of 50 children will be accepted. Registration starts March 1st. Cost: Residents - $150 per child Non-Residents - $170 per child. *$10 will be taken off the price of each additional child registered by parent or guardian* FISHING CLINIC: A FREE fishing clinic will be offered during the summer at Belk Park. TRI-CITY T-BALL LEAGUE An instructional T-Ball league for 4 & 5 year olds that will focus on teaching the basic skills and fundamentals of baseball/softball. Games will be played in the evenings beginning the first week of June. Fee: $40. Registration runs for the entire month of March. ($5 late fee after March 31st)

This basketball program has been set up for Kindergarten & 1st grade children. It is designed to teach the fundamentals and skills of basketball along with special drills to help with coordination. Each participant receives a completion certificate. The registration fee is $25.00. Registration begins in January. Clinic will start in March. For more information, call 251-3130.

ALL YOUTH LEAGUE PARTICIPANTS ARE PLACED IN AS OF SEPTEMBER 1ST, OF THE CURRENT YEAR. CLUBS Hoedowners Square Dancers The Wood River Square Dance Club was started by Mayor Lucien Ringering in 1949. The club is the oldest square dance club in existence in Illinois and has always danced in the Round House. Square dancing is good physical exercise for the body as well as the mind for all ages. Social ac-

tion with other people is a bonus. It is enjoyment & friendship set to music. A new class will begin in September. Square Dance Lessons are offered for beginners on Thursday evenings at the Round House from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. These lessons begin in the fall and continue until summer. Meet new people while having fun dancing. The first week of class is free. See you there. Once you have completed lessons, you may be interested in joining the Hoedowners on the 2nd & 4th Saturdays of each month for some square-dancing fun. They meet at 7:30 p.m. in the Round House and invite other clubs and various guest callers. You are welcome to visit a lesson or dance anytime to see how much fun square dancing can be. Senior Adult Program 55+ Adults age 55 and over are invited to join in activities for an annual fee of $10.00. Meetings are held at 11 a.m. on the second Thursday of every month. After a brief meeting a full meal is served catered by Chef Bob. The cost per meal is $4.00. The price Chef Bob charges is somewhat more depending on the price of food. A generous gift of $2,500.00 from the mayor and city council allows us to charge the $4.00 amount. After paying the annual fee of $10.00 each member is entitled to 4 meals without paying. After the meal is served bingo is played with each winner awarded $2.00. The cost of the bingo is funded by a 50-50 drawing. The meal and the bingo usually end about 1:30 pm. SPECIAL EVENTS Easter Egg Hunt: A FREE Easter Egg Hunt is offered to the children of Wood River residents ages toddler thru 4th grade. There will be over 120 dozen eggs hidden, along with some special prizes to be awarded to those finding special eggs. Each child will also receive a bag of candy from the Easter Bunny. Bike Ramble: Bring your kids for a safe and exciting family night bike ride. Wood River Parks & Recreation is co-sponsoring the 12th Annual Bike Ramble this June. The route begins and ends at the Round House. The lineup is at 7:00 pm and the ride will start at 7:30pm. Once participants complete the bike ride refreshments will be offered at the Round House. Halloween Party - The 35th annual Halloween Party for children of Wood River residents for toddlers up to 5th Grade, Entertainment, candy and a costume contest. Breakfast With Santa: Join us at the Round House for 34th annual Breakfast with Santa and get into the Christmas spirit. Each breakfast includes pancakes, sausages, milk, juice and coffee.
