Introduction Geoff Butterworth is one of Britain’s leading watercolour artists, he started painting in 1980 and has won many prizes and awards. His work is remarkably honest. Geoff's dramatic use of light and shade and purity of colour are instant markers of his style and work. Being self taught has allowed his paintings to develop uninfluenced by schooling, also a constant programme of exhibitions has brought critical acclaim from the start. His work is highly rated by the watercolour purists which means a great deal to him as watercolour is a most difficult medium to master. This is why he is widely collected throughout the world.

Introduction “I find constant inspiration in the sea in all its moods and it is a subject to which I am invariably drawn, striving always to capture its movement and strength, which I find both fascinating and frightening. The wild hills and moors of North Yorkshire and Derbyshire provide a different challenge and I love to paint them as they are exposed to the extremes and intensity of light. I try to capture a particular atmosphere created, sometimes fleetingly, by swiftly changing weather conditions and am fascinated by nature’s ability to present a landscape in so many different tempers.” Sue Nichol

Introduction “Lynne’s paintings are very popular, her animal portraits have an uncanny ability to engage the viewer. Regardless of subject matter, her pictures are saturated with vivid colours and created with vigorous, uninhibited brush strokes. In many of the paintings, the animals stare out of the canvas so intently that the viewer cannot
